Storyline

The Pink Panther, reading a super-hero comic, fancies himself becoming a cape-and-tights-garbed crusader and takes the essential garments from a clothesline to become Super-Pink! Super-Pink's well-intentioned efforts to help an elderly lady only result in calamity. While trying to rescue the lady's cat from a tree, Super-Pink chainsaws through the tree trunk, and the falling tree demolishes the lady's house. His attempt to save her from tripping over a lump in the carpet outside of a supermarket by pulling the lump out of the carpet causes the entire carpet to shift position, and the lady falls, dropping all of her groceries. When Super-Pink comes to aid the lady on a steep road by replacing her flat front tire, he jack-lifts the car's front and releases it to careen down a hill and into the path of a train. The battered and bruised lady goes to a phone booth and turns into a super-woman to attack the troublesome panther with an uprooted traffic light. Written by Kevin McCorry <mmccorry@nb.sympatico.ca>

Looking Like Superman And Acting Like Superman Are Two Totally Different Things
3 June 2007 | by See all my reviews

Perched up in a tree, the Pink Panther is relaxing and reading a "Superguy" comic book. He imagines, as most of us males have at one time or another, of being a Superman-type guy.

He finds a costume (and a phone booth) and now looks the part. The problem is acting the role! He tries various heroic deeds, always trying to save or help the same old lady....and the poor woman (and her automobile) takes a beating. I liked the joke early on in which he slid the flattened woman under her front door. Most of it was pretty good, with the usual fitting ending.

This was an entertaining cartoon marred only by the insulting laugh track which is totally unnecessary in a cartoon (or anywhere, for that matter). I wound up turning the sound off the last few minutes.
