Character error

For being an extremely well educated man, even to the point of teaching ballet in Moscow, Flint's french is unrealistically poor.

When Hans Gruber takes the dart out of the pen, he handles it with tweezers, presumably to keep from poisoning himself. But when Gila prepares to fire the dart at Flint, she holds it barehanded, with no thought to the poison.

Continuity

Every shot of the "anti-American eagle"soaring shows a different kind of bird, easily noted by the radically different shape of the wings.

In the opening scenes of the movie, the Galaxy operatives are using a World World II style submarine. Yet at the waterfall scene at the entrance of the Galaxy island, the submarine is a late 50's/early 60's era attack style.

The first time we see a close-up of Flint's wrist watch wake him up, the hand wearing the watch is on top of the other hand's fingers. Before and after shot, his hands are instead crossed by the wrists.

Flint uses a small device to "brand" Gila on the left upper arm. There is smoke and she reacts as though in pain. In all other shots there is no mark of any kind on her arm.

The string on the harp Gila is pulling when aiming for Flint changes from a red next to a black in the close-ups, to the black in the longer shots. She is also seen aiming the dart before she nocks it and draws the string; the shot is a mirrored version of what happens three cuts later.

In the scene where Flint is escaping the volcano with the women as they run through a door you can clearly see a crew member pushing over a barrel with a stick.

Errors in geography

When Cramden's plane is landing after an unsuccessful attempt to recruit Flint in what is supposed to be Washington DC, the outside view of the plane landing shows it landing on runway 13.

None of the airports in the DC area (Dulles, National, or Andrews AFB [Bolling AFB ceased flight operations in 1962]) have a runway 13.

Factual errors

The chemical formulas on the small bags in the briefcase with "65 weapons" Cramden tries to give Flint are nonsense. According to the formulas, the leftmost bag consists of benzoic acid, a food preservative; the middle bag is tartaric acid, commonly found in fruits and wine; the rightmost bag is acrolein, a toxic, unstable and stinking substance that smells of burning fat. None of these would be of any use for a secret agent.

Miscellaneous

On Galaxy Island, the coffin is being transported standing up on its short end. This would have caused the corpse in it to fall out, especially since the lid - as is shown later - is not firmly latched in place but instead just resting on the coffin.

Revealing mistakes

As Flint and his ladies are escaping from the island with the building collapsing around them, one of the "boulders" bounces off the head of the last of the ladies. She hardly seems to notice.

Hans Gruber aims far to the right of Flint's head and couldn't possibly have hit from that angle. The crack in the mirror when he shoots confirms this. He also fails completely to track Flint's movements when he leans even further left to grab some soap.

But when one of the dancers opens them, she does so by sticking her hands through the "glass" in the doors. And when the men enter the room, they enter through the open doors and the "glass" panels on each side.
