    Storyline

    Edit
Seven different cartoon stars appear in their own series of animated shorts each week. "Milton the Monster": Professor Weirdo, the mad scientist, and his assistant, Count Kook, live on Horror Hill with the three monsters they created: Heebie (a skull-faced monster with long hair and formal dress), Jeebie (a green-furred creature with one eye and one sharp tooth) and the uselessly kind and gentle Milton the Monster. "Fearless Fly": Hiram is a meek, mild and passive little fly until he dons a special pair of eyeglasses that give him super-powers. The inscrutable Tibetan wizard, Doctor Goo Fee, and his faithful servant, Gung Ho, make every effort to destroy the super-insect. "Flukey Luke": The cowboy private eye, Flukey Luke, fights the mobster, Spider Webb, with the help of his trusty horse, Pronto, and his faithful friend, Two Feathers, the American Indian with an Irish accent. "Muggy-Do, Boy Fox": The wily boy fox has an endless number of schemes to make a dishonest buck. "Penny Penguin": The bratty little Penny gives her father no end of grief. "Stuffy Durma, the Millionaire Hobo": The filthy rich former hobo wants nothing more than to go back to his old life; but his secretary, Bradley Brinkley, continually thwarts his efforts. —J. Spurlin

      ["Milton the Monster" title sequence]

Narrator: On top of old Horror Hill, in a secret laboratory, Professor Weirdo and Count Kook were in their monstrous glory.

Professor Weirdo: # Six drops of The Essence of Terror, / Five drops of Sinister Sauce. #

Count Kook: # When the stirring's done, may I lick the spoon? #

Professor Weirdo: # Of course! A-ha! Of course! / Now for the tincture of tenderness, / But I must use only a touch. / For without a touch of tenderness, / It might destroy me! #

      [Kook accidentally knocks Weirdo's arm]

Professor Weirdo: # Oops! Too much! / Better hold your breath; / It's starting to tick! #

Count Kook: # Better hold my hand; / I'm feeling sick! #

      [the monster arises]

      Milton The Monster: Hello, Daddy!

Professor Weirdo: # What have I done? #

Milton The Monster: # I'm Milton, your brand new son! #

    Great Saturday Morning Cartoon Show
This was one of the better cartoon shows to join the Saturday morning line-up of the now classic Saturday Morning Cartoons. If you didn't enjoy this era of the cartoons you cannot possibly give a proper review of any of them. I for one found this particular show to be quite a refreshing change. It seemed to poke a little fun at some of the other weekly shows including those scheduled during weekly prime time. Even in so doing they managed to maintain for the most part a simple and innocent story-line for children so as not to lose their attention or understanding. When this show debuted I was 12 years of age and beginning to outgrow the Saturday morning line-up. Because it was so different and maintaining an innocence it caught my attention and became the one Saturday Morning cartoons that I looked forward to. Being a 12 year old male at the time and soon to turn 13 I had to try to enjoy this show in secret and with an 11 year old brother that was hard to do at times. Off the beaten path but still quite cute and entertaining I highly recommend it and hope you don't find my taste to far off 'the beaten path'.
