Good biographic movie about the famous Torero Sebastián Palomo Linares from his humble origins to his big success
30 April 2017 | by ma-cortesSee all my reviews

Palomo Linares was born into a poor , humble family whose mother , Julia Gutierrez Caba , is a good and religious woman and his father, Andrés Mejuto , turns a blind man. The boy becomes shoemaker's apprentice to a nice craftsman , José Bodalo . At his adolescence and by night Sebastián confronts bulls in the Dehesas and meadows.Sebastian will arrange to make fame and fortune at the capital of Spain . Meanwhile , he falls for the beautiful Sonsoles, Cristina Galbo. At Last he gets his wanted debut in the famous plaza of Ventas , Madrid .

This is a biopic about a known bullfighter , recently deceased , and how his wished dreams come true . The picture pays tribute to this great Torero , displaying good feeling, emotion , human values , spectacular bullfighting Corridas and results to be pretty entertaining . Naive acting by Sebastián Palomo Linares as a young who dreams of becoming a successful Torero. José Bodalo gives an excellent performance as veteran shoemaker, as usual . Remaining support cast is frankly wonderful , full of prestigious secondaries with long careers such as Alfredo Landa , José Calvo , Carlos Lemos , Luis Varela , Manuel Zarzo, , Concha Goyanes , Carlos Romero Marchent, Agustín González ,Manolo Gómez Burr ,José Sacristan , Fernando Sánchez Polack ,José Orjas , José Sepulveda ,Alfonso Del Real, Antonio Casas and many others.

It packs a colorful and brilliant cinematography by Juan Marine . Evocative and adequate musical score by Anton García Abril. The motion picture compellingly produced by Pedro Maso was decently directed by Pedro Lazaga . He was a good and prolific professional , a craftsman who made all kinds of genres as Peplum : 7 Spartans , Mystery thriller: El Rostro Del Asesino , Drama : Cuerda De Presos , Posicion Avanzada , Otro Árbol De Guernica , El Frente Infinito , La Patrulla , Torrepartida , being expert on comedies in low budget as Los Tramposos , Sabían Demasiado , Martes Y Trece , La Pandilla De Los Once , El Vikingo ,Un Vampiro Para Dos, Novios 68 , Las Secretarias , Sor Citroen Abuelo made in Spain, Vaya Par De Gemelos, Verano 70 ,Vente a Ligar Al Oeste , Vente Alemania Pepe. And also made another important film about bullfighting : Aprendiendo a Morir with Manuel Benítez El Cordobés.
