It was way back in 1966 when Vijay Anand’s Teesri Manzil was released. The film turned out to be a smash success and remains popular till date. While ‘O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan’ and ‘Aaja Aaja Mein Hoon Pyar Tera’ remain popular till date, courtesy Mohammad Rafi’s exuberant singing, R.D. Burman’s foot-tapping score, Majrooh Sultanpuri’s catchy lyrics and of course Shammi Kapoor’s dance moves, one track which continues to make for a melodic hear is Asha Bhosle’s ‘O Mere Sona Re Sona Re’.

Now in the 50th year anniversary of Teesri Manzil, the film’s leading lady Asha Parekh has paid a tribute of sorts to the Nasir Hussain musical. The 73 year old veteran actress, who continues to make social appearances, has just made her debut on Dubsmash. The song that she chose? ‘O Mere Sona Re Sona Re’.

PVR Director’s Rare is all set to release a never seen before piece of work by legendary actor & director Joy Mukerji, Love in Bombay. With this presentation, PVR Director’s Rare pays its tribute to one of the most respected figures of Indian cinema. The unreleased movie is digitally restored and now ready for theaterical screening for the first time on August 2nd, 2013.

The “Love in” series started with Joy Mukerji debuting with the blockbuster hit Love in Simla in 1958, followed by the golden jubilee hit Love in Tokyo in 1966. ‘Love in Bombay’ completes the trilogy when it releases this august, 40 years after its production in 1973.

In the movie, directed and acted by Joy Mukerji, co-stars late Ashok Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Rehman and the versatile virtuoso Kishore Kumar. The music is composed by Shankar-Jaikishan and lyrics are penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

Actor-filmmaker Joy Mukherjee, who died Friday, was cremated here Saturday.The last rites were performed at 11.30 a.m. at the Versova crematorium close to his residence in the presence of Raza Murad, Tabassum and family members, a family member said.His niece Kajol, music composer Bappi Lahiri and veteran actor Tabassum were present at his residence before the body was taken to the crematorium.The actor, who stepped into filmdom in 1960 with Love In Simla, died at the Lilavati Hospital here Friday morning. Mumbai, March 5: Yesteryears Bollywood star Joy Mukherjee was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital here in a critical condition Monday and has been put on ventilator, his spokesperson said.

"He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at around 10:30 a.m. He has not been keeping well for quite some time," the 73-year-old's spokesperson, R.R.Pathak, said.

"His wife Neelam Mukherjee too distraught at the moment," he added.

Aamir's Father Filmamker Tahir Hussain passes away

Filmmaker Tahir Hussain, Aamir Khan's father, passed away early yesterday morning following a massive cardiac arrest at his Bandra residence. He was in his early 70s.
