Friz Freleng

John W. Dunn (story) (as John Dunn)

Mel Blanc

Complete credited cast:
Mel Blanc ... Speedy Gonzales / Sylvester / Mice (voice)

Sylvester is guarding the Guadalajara Food Processing plant; a group of mice see this and try to enter, with no luck. Speedy gets some cheese, but when he goes back, Sylvester starts chasing him. They end up on a conveyor belt, where Sylvester gets shaved by some chopping blades. Speedy spreads some grease on a platform, and Sylvester skids into a vat of Tabasco Sauce. He melts a block of ice to recover. On another conveyor belt, Sylvester gets a bottle cap on his head. He pries it off, but Speedy "yee-ha's" him into the ceiling where it gets stuck again, and Speedy hides his bottle opener. Sylvester wanders off, into a dehydrator, where he emerges much smaller than Speedy and runs away in fright. (Even with all this machinery, the soundtrack does not include "Powerhouse.") User Reviews

Great idea and title

Chilli Weather has a great idea and title, and is reasonably entertaining, if you get across the bland art work, standard story line and uneven pacing. I am not a huge Speedy fan, but I can tolerate him, and he is tolerable here, while Sylvester serves well as the butt of the joke and has a lot of pain inflicted on him by the end. The dialogue is amusing, and I liked the sight gags they were at least clever and fun. And while the music score is not the best or most creative, it is listenable. I may sound like a broken record praising Mel Blanc and his vocal characterisations, but they do deserve a mention as they are consistently great. Overall, not bad an attempt, not quite as good as it could have been, but hey this was entertaining that's all that matters. 7/10 Bethany Cox
