Run-of-the-mill Gracita Morales comedy with her habitual comical skills , gestures , mime and antics .
ma-cortes5 July 2023
The picture was middlingly directed by the Stajanovist filmmaker Mariano Ozores , it works with ups and downs in rhythm and got moderated boxoffice , resulting to be an obscure film . Gracita Morales is the protagonist of a humorous story with the topical axis of the stereotype , already outdated of a fish out water woman who wants to be a young lady , of course , things go wrong. It deals with Petrita (Gracita Morales) leaves her village to work as a servant in Madrid. Her destination is the home where worked her friend Adela (Vicky Lagos), who's in love with engineer Narciso (José Luis López Vázquez) . On the bus Petrita meets Javier (Antonio Ozores), a neighbour who travels to Madrid to carry out the military service . Petrita's ingenuity and goodness leads her to be the victim of a scam or to have idealistic aspirations . However , she doesn't get cash enough , that's why she decides to undertake other jobs as a call girl , as dancer girl accompanying men.

Typical and hilarious Gracita Morales comedy by prolific Antonio Ozores. Nevertheless , the film has a moralizing style with the regular formula about a small-town girl in a great city with the key of a fish out of water . Here Gracita is a a ¨redneck¨o villager who goes to the Spain capital and the film is structured in the form of humorous vignettes, irregular or uneven in their inventiveness , and 'in fits and starts' ; using ridiculous farce , silly irony , contrast , satire , slapdash , slapstick, some touch of the absurd in an urban environment of comings and goings of the domestic environment , including pursuits , flirting , swimming pools , bars and dancing clubs. Gracita Morales's career developed on stage and cinema , she was a known comical player with her ordinary hilarious touches . A famous comedian actress known for La chica del gato (1964), Operación Mata Hari (1968) y Operación Secretaria (1966). She is one of the best loved Spanish actresses of all times . Her talent for comedy was supported by her peculiar, thrilling voice . Her greatest success came with "Sor Citroen", this was one of the films that launched Gracita Morales to stardom in Spain, in which she played a very funny and touching nun. In cinema she starred various comedies mainly directed by Mariano Ozores, winning big hits ,and usually forming couple with Jose Luis López Vázquez or Alfredo Landa . The story is filled with motley characters, some of them offbeat , neurotic and disconcerting who help shake up the story with a varied and effective cast . Gracita Morales is well accompanied by a good cast with plenty of familiar faces , such as : Jose Luis López Vázquez who played various films with Gracita , Antonio Ozores who often stars films of his brother Mariano , Vicky Lagos , Trini Alonso , Alfonso del Real , Tota Alba , Xan das Bolas, José Thelman , Antonio Jiménez Escribano , Pilar Gómez Ferrer , Santiago Rivero , among others .

It contains an atmospheric cinematography by cameraman Emilio Foriscot , and completely shot in Madrid. And funcional musical score in the Sixties trendy by Federico Martinez Tudó . This routine motion picture produced in low budget by usual production company Izaro Films was regularly written and directed by Mariano Ozores and made in his habitual style with his trademarks . Mariano directed a large number of comedies and in 1964 shot a Sci-fi flick : La hora incognita . As Mariano Ozores wrote , produced and directed the former movie, but was a real flop and he was bankrupt. Then Mariano promised at the future only to make comedies . Although it won prize of the National Syndicate of Spectacle to best actor José Luis Ozores and Best artistic Achievement . Mariano recently won a Goya Award (2016) to his long and fruitful career . Ozores made with two famous comedians , -Fernando Esteso and Andres Pajares- several successful films , as they had various years partnership between the two leads , such as ¨Agitese Antes Usarla¨ , ¨Al Este Del Oeste¨, ¨Los Liantes¨, ¨Los Energeticos¨, ¨La Lola Lleva Al Huerto¨ , ¨El Currante¨ , ¨El Hijo Del Cura¨...these films are filled with humor that still holds up , especially for those not easily offended . Mariano directed 93 films , most of them were comedies , though made some dramas as "Alegre Juventud" and "Las Dos y Media y veneno" with José Luis Ozores. Mariano directed a lot of comedies for the greatest Spanish comedians as Paco Martinez Soria , José Luis López Vázquez , Lina Morgan , Alfredo Landa , Jose Sacristán and the successful duo : Fernando Esteso and Andrés Pajares. Rating : 5/10 . Average but amusing .
