Sex & Nudity

  • During the middle of Tom Baker's tenure on the show, he had a companion who wore revealing skins. Eventually she would wear less revealing clothes. Some parents may not want their children to see a warrior woman with her skin exposed on her arms and legs.

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • Very mild, earlier episodes feature none at all but later episodes contain mild language, for example, "What the hell?".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The Doctor rarely drinks alcholic beverages. In the first serial, 'An Unearthly Child' the Doctor is smoking pipe once.
  • Alcohol is rarely consumed by the main cast. Drugs are always fictional and "alien", and usually produce similar effects to tranquilisers.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are frequent violent deaths in the programme but usually no blood and gore is shown. Several sequences are considered frightening and intense, particularly in later episodes.
