Sentimental and touching drama about some nuns find an abandoned baby girl
The film deals with a nun convent at the end of the 19th century inhabited by good-natured inmates , as while celebrating the onomastics of their Mother Superior , they are disturbed when at their door appears a baby. Then, the good nuns : Lina Rosales, Lina Yegros, Tota Alba... take her, and care along the years . The baby will be named Teresa . They all receive the usual visit from a doctor, Don José : Antonio Garisa, a good man who watches the health of the nuns . Despite being single he offers to adopt legally and give the abandoned baby as a pupil to the cloistered convent . When she , Soledad Miranda, is eighteen year old, falls in love for a young engineer, Jaime Abellan, but shortly after , things go wrong , as there shows up the jealous girlfriend , Katia Loritz .

Enjoyable film about a group of nuns find a left baby girl at the doorstep of their convent . Based on a popular play by Gregorio Martinez Sierra, it is an acceptable and decent fim with human values, good feeling and sense of love and family. Stars Soledad Miranda who is gorgeous as a gullible girl who falls for a young suitor and facing off his fianceé Katia Loritz. Soledad Miranda proves her singing skills, as she sings some Folkloric songs as Havaneras, and other Andalucian ballads. Soledad is considered to be a cult actress, playing for Jesus Franco a lot of films , such as : Eugenie, Sex charade , She killed in ecstasy , Vampyres Lesbos , Devil came from Akasava, Count Dracula, until her early death by car accident. The cast and support cast are pretty good , such as : Antonio Garisa the atheist doctor , Lina Rosales, Lina Yegros, , Katia Loritz , Rosita Yarza, Carlota Bilbao, Maria Navarro, Aníbal Vela , Mary Paz Pondal and a very young Marisa Paredes.

It packs an atmospheric cinematography by Pablo Ripoll . As well as evocative musical score by Modesto Rebollo , including catching and popular songs . Being professionally directed by Jose Maria Elorrieta who is father of filmmaker Javier Elorrieta and actress Beatriz Elorrieta. It has some award , as National Syndicate of Spectacle, Spain 1961 , Winner Prize of the National Syndicate of Spectacle Best Supporting Actress Tota Alba . Filmmaker Elorrieta was a fine professsional who wrote and directed a lot of films . He made movies of all kinds of genres . His first one was Ciudad de muñecas , and following : Tienda de antiguedades, Barco sin rumbo, Maria Dolores , Pasa la Tuna , Esa picara peligrosa, La montaña de arena, Viento del Sur, La bella Mimi, Torero por alegrías , La corista, Encuentro en la ciudad , El bandido generoso , 3 huchas de Oriente , El hincha, El fenomeno, Mensajeros de Paz, Una bruja sin escoba . As the first stage rendition was premiered in 1921 by Gregorio Martinez Sierra himself. Following Hollywood rendition 1933, by Mitchell Leisen with Mischa Auer, Bonita Granville, Gail Patrick, Guy Standing , being only filmed American version of Gregorio Martínez Sierra's classic . 1941 Argentina retelling directed by the same author Gregorio Martinez Sierra with Pablo Vicuña, Nuri Montse, Gloria Bayardo, Maria Duval . 1953 Mexican version by Fernando de Fuentes with Maria Elena Marques, Anita Blanch, Cesar del Campo. 1968 titled Cradle song with Noe Middleton , Sorcha Cusack and Fionnula Flanagan .
