Ice Cold in Alex (1958)
Capt. Anson: [draining his glass of beer] Worth waiting for.
Capt. Anson: I'll tell you this, the next drink I have's gonna be a lager. Ice cold. There's a little bar in Alex with a marble top counter and high stools. They serve the best beer in all the middle east. When we get through with this lot I'm gonna buy you one. I'll buy you all one.
Captain van der Poel: It has been quite an experience. All against the desert. The greater enemy. I've learnt a lot about the English. So different from all I've been taught. Auf wiedersehen.
Capt. Anson: [after the two nurses agree to go with Capt Anson across the minefield] Dames and mines. Lovely party.
Captain van der Poel: [navigating a minefield] If I take the other track, it will half the time.
Capt. Anson: I can't ask you to do that. You're heavier than I am for one thing.
Captain van der Poel: Listen. A Springbok can go wherever a bloody Englishman can...
Capt. Anson: I'm going to get Katy to Alex, do you understand? I'm going to. It's a personal thing.
Narrator: Two million men. Two million stories. This is one. It happens to be true.
