Man offers to marry a woman who is pregnant out of wedlock by another man. He tells her anything that happens between them is because she chooses it. They sleep separately until one night he comforts her after a nightmare, and she asks him to stay, implying sex. Outside the baby's christening, men speculate about Wade being the father; whereas actually, it is his son's child.
Plot features a husband and wife who live together but maintain a sexless marriage due to estrangement. Main character is known as a womanizer who has had children out of wedlock. Another major character is actually this man's illegitimate son. During the course of the film, a young woman becomes pregnant by her boyfriend but then marries another man.

Wild boar hunting scene might be triggering for those sensitive to animal cruelty. It is implied the boar attacks the hunting dogs and throws them in the air. This animal ends up killing two of the dogs and injuring the third. The boar is a "clean" kill by the hunter with one shot. Blood is seen on one dog and the boar.
While in the field hunting, a man is shot in the shoulder by a jealous husband; a bloody wound is evident. Two deaths occur by gunshot, one a cold-blooded murder and the other a killing in self defense; both show a fair amount of blood on the victims.

A young man suffers due to the effect of his parents' estranged marriage. The death of the protagonist is an emotional and affecting scene. Reconciliation of characters at the end is affecting.
