Very mediocre Spanish comedy with silly screenplay , nostalgic songs and familiar actors of the Sixties

Sentimental and musical Spanish comedy about a sympathetic girl (Concha Velasco) who attempts to participate at the Benidorm Festival . While a famous singer called Flavia Sylvia (Carmen Del Lirio ) is looking a composer for her song at the Festival , and she meets him at a sanatorium . Along the way a snooper magazine reporter is attempting to get a scoop from the nutty house . While the beautiful singer acted by Concha Velasco along with her composer maestro (Luis Picazo) go to Benidorm where she is eventually attended , there then she meets her two doppleganger sisters , resulting to be triplet : Lía / María / Estefanía , all of them performed by Concha Velasco . The trio performs a wonderful song at Benidorm Festival with big hit , along with the singers ¨Los 5 Latinos¨. Finally , they finish marrying their boyfriends (Manolo Gómez Bur , Arturo López , Ángel Picazo) .

This is average comedy with no much sense , its main attraction resides on watch as Benidorm has changed from a little tourist village to become , nowadays , a holiday metropolis with its giant buildings and high skycrapers . There are several stories all around , including a singer well played by the incombustible Concha Velasco along with a popular star performed by Carmen De Lirio who falls for a composer interned at a mental institution. Support cast is pretty good with the regular players , such as Manolo Gómez Bur , Arturo López , Antonio Jiménez Escribano , María Andersen , Erasmo Pascual , Rosario García Ortega , Pablo Sanz , Maria Vico , Ángel Ter , Francisco Bernal , and Luis Sánchez Polack as Tip , Joaquín Portillo 'Top', the former couple to ¨Tip and Coll¨, among others. It displays the atmospheric musical score in the sixties style by Augusto Alguero who married Carmen Sevilla . As well as evocative and colorful cinematography by Ricardo Torres , though a perfect remastering being really necessary

The motion picture was middlingly directed by Rafael J. Salvia , he was born in 1915 in Tortosa, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain and died in Madrid 1976. He was a prolific writer and director, being especially known for Las chicas de la Cruz Roja (1958), La gran familia (1962) and El Judas (1952). Salvia wrote and shot a lot of films with penchant for comedies . As he directed the following ones : Proceso a una estrella , La cesta , Isidro el labrador , Una tal Dulcinea, La gran familia , Festival en Benidorm , Vida sin risas , Días de feria , Nacido para la música , Las chicas de la Cruz Roja , El puente de la paz , Pasaje a Venezuela and two successful pictures starred by Manolo Morán : Manolo, guardia urbano and ¡ Aquí hay petróleo . Rating : 4/10 . Below average , exclusively for Concha Velasco fans .
