Solid Saturday afternoon comic feature.
I suspect that even at the time, the audience was familiar enough with both the plot and the gags. It focusses around the efforts of well-meaning married couple "David" (Leslie Phillips) and "Catherine" (Geraldine McEwan) who come into a large property which they decide to turn into a refuge for kids. The comedic elements are all a bit basic, the kids a little too implausible and the whole thing runs just too much to stereotype to be in any way innovative, but there are a couple of superior contributions from Irene Handl - clearly out to get her hands on the property and who is willing to thwart their good intentions at just about any cost; and from their dipsomaniac cook Joan Hickson (from whom most of the original humour comes). It's an easy watch, the scenarios are gently entertaining with a solid production underpinning the whole thing. Keep an eye out for Eric Pohlmann playing a King!
