Mrinal Sen & the bourgeosis commentary
14 April 2012 | by Roshni AliSee all my reviews

This films falls into the first phase of Mrinal Sen's work that is from 1955-54. His films show cased the humanist emotion in him. During his early years he was influenced by Hollywood cinema , which can be evidently seen.

This film is based in India during the 1930's and makes a comment on the bourgeosis attitude prevailing. The class divide and a sense of loneliness is the main theme of the film

There is the constant use of three-point lighting. Useof music and songs to bring out the melancholy feel in the film.

To interpret the tittle , Neil Akashe Niche or Under the blue sky explains than evnthough everyone is under the same sky , people differ in their outlook towards life and other classes.
