The Marseillaise is played during the official visit. However, the Marseillaise was considered too Jacobinite during Napoleon's reign and was not played after 1800, and finally even forbidden in 1804. It certainly would not have been played on an occasion like a visit by Napoleon.
During the discussion of the government concerning Schinderhannes, one person says "Krieg den Palästen, Friede den Hütten". This is a spin on "Friede den Hütten! Krieg den Palästen!" ("Peace to the huts! War on the palaces!"), which is a quote from Georg Büchner's "The Hessian Courier" from 1834, about thirty years after the time frame the movie is set in.
