Plot Summary

The arrival of a film crew in a small town causes a stir. They come to shoot scenes from the movie "The daughter of Juan Simón". One of the girls of the town, Carmela, breaks the heart of her suitor Antonio when she falls in love with Alfonso Guzmán, the main actor, with whom he has an idyll that ends when the team finishes filming the scenes and leaves back to Madrid. Carmela is in love with Alfonso, so she decides to leave her father Ramón and her aunt Sebastiana and go to the big city to be with her beloved. But Alfonso, who is really a scoundrel, is not in love with Carmela. He gives her an apartment for her to establish, where they frequently meet. He keeps it for some time, and then he gets small roles in his films. One day she sends a letter to her father telling her that she has married, a letter that accompanies a false wedding photograph taken for one of the shootings. Time passes and Alfonso gets tired of her, and then confesses that he has no intention of marrying her. She, shattered, leaves him, and ends up engaging in prostitution.
