A moving experience
3 February 2006 | by mcgowanfSee all my reviews

I watched this film in French, and I'm not sure if it has been translated to any other language yet, but it is worth seeing as soon as possible. It tells the story of a young couple who decide to have a baby. The story is told with a delicately balanced combination of video footage with believable (and downright beautiful!) computer-generated imagery that allows the viewer to follow the development of their baby from insemination to birth, and, at the same time, hear from the couple what they are experiencing and feeling during the pregnancy. The whole is treated in a down-to-earth manner, explaining what is happening as we watch, seemingly at first-hand, the development of the egg into a baby, while magically remaining sensitive to the full wonder and emotional impact of what we are watching... the creation of a human being. By the end of the film, if you're not cheering, or crying, or both, then you just haven't paid attention! This is a brilliant depiction of this every-day miracle, that never ceased to amaze and delight me. A must-see!!!
