On November 3, 1956, this was one of the shows preempted for the first telecast of The Wizard of Oz (1939), which was shown as the last offering of the CBS series "Ford Star Jubilee". The other shows preempted that evening were a long-forgotten sitcom called Hey, Jeannie! (1956), and an episode of Gunsmoke (1955). See more »
My Husband has a sick addiction to "My Little Margie". He has made me buy him the two box sets of the show AND made me watch them too. When he mentioned that Gale Storm had a second show called "Oh Susannah!", I thought not more crap. It was his birthday so I ordered him the only two available videos of the show(also titled "The Gale Storm Show").
We got them in the mail and I was pleasantly surprised. It has a cute storyline. Susannah Pomeroy(Ms Storm) is a cruise director on a ship that travels around the world. Stopping at many different ports means many new adventures and interesting characters every show. Of course there are some funny characters aboard including silent film star Zazu Pitts as Nugie, Susannah's close friend.
Unlike "My Little Margie", this show included song and dance numbers to take advantage Ms Storm's hit recording career. She's pretty good too. If you ever get the chance to see this show, watch it and enjoy what television had to offer in it's Golden Age.
