'Preacher': How the Comic-Book Series Just Got Bloodier and More Blasphemous
Deep in the heart of Texas, three outlaws are on a road trip in a vintage muscle car. At the wheel, a gorgeous but deadly piece of work named Tulip O'Hare. Riding shotgun is the Reverend Jesse Custer, a preacher with a shady criminal past (and an even shadier sexual history with Tulip). And the one who never shuts up in the back seat? That's an Irish vampire called Cassidy, who smokes too much weed and rants about topics like why he thinks The Big Lebowski sucks or where all

Autobot Prowl joins Transformers: Forged to Fight

Kabam Games and Hasbro have announced the latest addition to the roster of Transformers: Forged to Fight as Autobot Prowl joins the battle.

He may look like your friendly neighborhood cop on patrol, but check under the hood and he’s 100% military-trained police on a mission to serve and protect. Autobot Prowl is a trusted strategist and friend of Optimus Prime, but he’s decidedly less friendly to those who don’t follow protocol…his protocol.

Here’s Prowl’s abilities:

Signature Ability – Good Cop:

After charging his Melee Buffs, Prowl gets a surge of Power based on how many Melee Buffs he activated.

Passive:

After charging his Melee Buffs, Prowl gets 1.5 ~ 4% Power for each Melee Buff activated.

Special Attacks:

Special 1 – Short Circuit

His short fuse and their short circuit.

100% chance to Power Burn, consuming up to 23.8 ~ 36.4% of the target’s max Power. If the opponent reaches zero Power

Mariah Carey & James Corden's Christmas Carpool Karaoke Turned Into a Star-Studded Sing-Along for the Ages

Mariah Carey & James Corden's Christmas Carpool Karaoke Turned Into a Star-Studded Sing-Along for the Ages
We must have been very good this year because Santa just delivered us one heck of an early Christmas present. And by Santa, of course, we mean the holly jolly James Corden. On tonight's new episode of The Late, Late Show, James delivered some much needed holiday cheer in the form of a new Carpool Karaoke—the second of the week after Tuesday's drive with Bruno Mars! Riding shotgun this time around? The queen of the modern day Christmas song, Mariah Carey. Only, this was no regular Carpool Karaoke. What seemed like an innocent duet between the pair to Mimi's classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" turned into a surprisingly star-studded sing-along, mashing up familiar faces from Ck segments...

Film Review: ‘Green / is / Gold’

“If you’re going to do wrong, make sure you do it right.” This is what counts for brotherly wisdom in “Green / is / Gold,” a coming-of-age story about a 13-year-old who’s introduced to the family weed business, but it’s one of the film’s many small virtues that it takes such a cavalier line seriously. Set in the hills of Northern California, where marijuana growers can thrive in isolation, Ryon Baxter’s winning debut feature follows two brothers living on the fringes — of society, of the law, and of a future that’s by no means certain for either of them. That Baxter and his own younger sibling, Jimmy, play the lead roles adds to the authentic, lived-in quality that sets the film apart. Winner of the Audience Award at the L.A. Film Festival, the film should harvest interest from micro-indie distributors and serve as a calling

With wind in their long hair and drugs stowed in their motorbikes, a couple of born-to-be-wild men blaze a path on the American highway in the opening credits of “Easy Rider.” It’s a quintessential cinematic moment that epitomized the general mood of an entire generation. American 1960s counterculture was a watershed for free speech and socio-politically […]

Dirt Rally Review

Few genres have more dedicated fans than simulation racing games. After all, that’s an audience that purchases expensive driving wheels to ensure they get the most accurate experience possible. That’s why I don’t envy developer Codemasters, who has to juggle pleasing that fanbase while also making sure their racing games are fun for a wider audience. It’s something that only a few developers have nailed, namely Turn 10 with the Forza series, as it continues to be a challenge to this day.

Codemasters’ latest racing sim, Dirt Rally, is a triumph in realism. Never before has a rally racing title felt so much like the real deal. A large part of this is thanks to the fantastic job that Codemasters has done with incorporating a co-driver into the game. Riding shotgun, your co-driver will read off notes to the player to warn them about upcoming turns. You

Review: "The Stranger Wore A Gun" (1953) Starring Randolph Scott; DVD Release From Explosive Media

  • CinemaRetro
By Doug Oswald

Randolph Scott plays a former Confederate spy in the 1953 western “The Stranger Wore a Gun.” When the movie starts, Jeff Travis (Scott) is involved in a brutal murder during the final days of the Civil War while spying for Quantrill' Raiders, a gang of notorious Confederate guerrillas. A wanted man after the war, Travis heads west to Arizona to start a new life. Josie Sullivan (Claire Trevor) helps him escape from a river boat and meets up with him later in Arizona. Travis also meets up with one of his former Quantrill Raider associates, Jules Mourret (George Macready), who offers him a position in his new gang of outlaws so he can continue to steal “Yankee gold.”

Shoot 'Em Up: revisiting a brilliantly daft action film

Andrew Blair Apr 25, 2017

Looking for a film to pair in a double bill with Crank? Then Shoot 'Em Up, starring Clive Owen, is wonderfully bonkers...

Light spoilers for Shoot 'Em Up lie ahead.

See related Westworld episode 10 review: The Bicameral Mind Westworld episode 9 review: The Well-Tempered Clavier

Shoot ‘Em Up is a very silly film. It’s at its best when it is being very silly, and not when it attempts to be serious or apply something as clichéd and boring as a plot to all the bits between shootings.

Made during a period in Clive Owen’s career when he was making quite a few awards-troubling, critically acclaimed movies, Shoot ‘Em Up stands out quite distinctly as a knowingly trashy and cheerfully ludicrous series of set pieces. The plot that connects all these stunts comes with a pithy Team America-light philosophy on gun use, and could be a parody

Cannes Film Review: ‘Sicario’

Cannes Film Review: ‘Sicario’
Two years after making his U.S. debut with the crackerjack kidnapping drama “Prisoners,” French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve ups his own ante with “Sicario,” a blisteringly intense drug-trade thriller that combines expert action and suspense with another uneasy inquiry into the emotional consequences of violence. A densely woven web of compelling character studies and larger systemic concerns, Villeneuve and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan’s bleaker, more jaundiced riposte to Steven Soderbergh’s 2000 “Traffic” may prove too grim and grisly for some audiences and too morally ambiguous for others. But with its muscular style and top-flight cast, this fall Lionsgate release should score solid (if less than “Prisoners”-sized) business from discerning adult moviegoers, along with dark-horse awards-season buzz.

In a terrific performance that recalls the steely ferocity of Jodie Foster in “The Silence of the Lambs” and Jessica Chastain in “Zero Dark Thirty,” Emily Blunt stars here as Kate Macer, an

Exclusive: Ken Kirzinger Talks Vehicular Slaughter in Joy Ride 3: Road Kill

1971’s Duel revved the engines of cinematic road-ragers everywhere and put many a vicious vehicle on the old highway to hell. What horror fan doesn’t love The Car, Christine, and Death Proof?

Those are classics. But what sets the Joy Ride film franchise apart from the rest is that it’s more about the diabolical driver and less about the terrifying truck. Which is not to say the big rig isn’t badass in its own right, but let’s face it: The 18-wheeler isn’t nearly as fun to chat with as actor and stuntman Ken Kirzinger.

Dread Central: Were you familiar with the Rusty Nail character before stepping into the role?

Ken Kirzinger: I auditioned for Rusty in Joy Ride 2 but didn’t get the part. Instead it went to a good friend, Mark Gibbon, who I ended up stunt doubling for in the movie. So yes,

Cannes 2014: The Homesman reaction review
Following on from his excellent debut The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada, Tommy Lee JonesThe Homesman is a good-looking western, austere but infused with devilish humour and unabashed sentiment. Set in the Nebraskan Territories in the mid-19th century, it sees Hilary Swank’s strong-minded spinster, Mary Bee Cuddy, volunteer to cart three madwomen back East to place them in the care of a preacher’s wife. Riding shotgun against his cantankerous will is Jones’ army deserter Briggs, rescued from the noose by Cuddy in return for his...
