When the American clipper ship "The Queen" is attacked by pirates off the Hebrides in 1830, Mate Kirk Hamilton is injured and must be put ashore at Queensland Colony, Australia, for treatment and recuperation. There, he meets and falls in love with Elaine Jeffries, daughter of the magistrate and all-but-fiancée to rancher Martin Shannon. She also finds herself attracted to Kirk, and a rivalry develops between the two men. Meantime the pirates, led by Captain Hackett, decide to raid the colony and, in the process kidnap Elaine and her friend. Nancy. Kirk, and Shannon lead the pursuit, having not only the romantic triangle to resolve, but the pirates to overcome and, along the way, being stranded on a volcanic island inhabited by dinosaurs.Written by

A rare instance where James Arness was billed under the actual spelling of his last name, "Aurness", listed second after Kasey Rogers (who, ironically, was not using her real name, but the stage name of Laura Eliott). See more »
A tattooed(probably a pirate's) hand opens pages through a storybook which includes the credits. See more »
Before he became James Arness, James Aurness was captain of the Clipper ship "the Queen" sailing in the Pacific where he encounters pirates which leads to a trip to the hospital which in 1830 couldn't do much for his health but was an unusual setting for a romantic encounter with another mans girl.
Just sit right back And you'll hear a tale A tale of a fateful trip, That started from this tropic port. The skipper was a Marshal brave and sure. the weather was fine but pirates attacked. The ship's aground on the shore Of this uncharted desert isle.
So this is the tale of our castaways, They're here for a long, long time. The first mate and his Skipper, Chester and Festus, too!
with recycled film from a dozen other movies. too try and keep things interesting.
