Storyline

Carlo Rutelli falls in love with the beautiful singer of variety Yvonne la Nuit, but Carlo's father opposes the wedding. World War I broke out and Carlo was killed in the war while Yvonne had a child who was made to believe he was dead by order of Carlo's father. Yvonne's career begins a descending parable and only Nino, an art partner, remains close to her, with whom she earns a living singing in the taverns. Upon the death of Carlo's father, the lawyer Rubinordo informs her that the son is alive, but Yvonne, to avoid being seen in the state in which she was reduced, prefers that the son continues to believe her dead.
