James Gunn Disproves Soul Stone & Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Theory

James Gunn has debunked a theory involving the Soul Stone, Avengers: Infinity War, and the tease of Adam Warlock during one of the mid-credits scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel has plenty of major characters that have yet to appear in the McU; ranging from Wonder Man and Moon Knight to a whole lot of heroes/villains from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man comic books. For many fans, however, few characters are as high as Adam Warlock on that wish list.

James Gunn teases Nathan Fillion appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Director James Gunn has teased whether or not Nathan Fillion will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The Guardians films are full of surprises, with the most recent outing containing some fun cameos for fans to enjoy. One of which was supposed to be actor Nathan Fillion, scheduled to appear as Simon Williams/Wonder Man.

His role was eventually cut from the film, however, but Gunn has offered fans a small tease regarding if we might see Fillion in the next Guardians movie.

Speaking during a Facebook Live Q&A, Gunn said: “Will he be in [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3]? I don’t know yet. I haven’t made up my mind.”

While Gunn sounds uncertain, or at least not ready to reveal anything, Fillion has in the past suggested that he would be interested in the idea.

“If you know the Marvel Universe, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man, becomes an Avenger. So,

Nathan Fillion Still Wants To Be Simon Williams a.k.a Wonder Man in the McU

As we all know now, Nathan Fillion was set to appear as Wonder Man aka Simon Williams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. There was originally a scene in the film set on Earth that featured a Simon Williams Film Festival. There were a bunch of fake movie posters designed for this scene that featured Fillion as actor Simon Williams. But, because of timing and pace, he had to be cut, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still want to play the part.

Recently in a radio interview, Fillion talked about his role in the now-deleted scene and expressed his desire to play it again in the future.

"If you know the Marvel Universe, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man, becomes an Avenger. So, he’s part of that universe. It was a neat little Easter egg, it was a neat little piece of the universe.

Nathan Fillion discusses his deleted cameo from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Although Nathan Fillion was cast as actor Simon Williams – better known to comic book fans as Wonder Man – in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, his cameo ended up on the cutting room floor. Nevertheless, writer-director James Gunn has expressed his hope of seeing Fillion’s Williams in the McU at some point in the future, and now the actor has echoed that sentiment during a chat with The Ara Radio Show (via Cbr) during which he discussed the deleted cameo.

“I was going to be an Easter egg in the background…[there was] a Simon Williams Film Festival, and I was in all of the movie posters,” said Fillion. “If you know the Marvel Universe, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man, becomes an Avenger. So, he’s part of that universe. It was a neat little Easter egg, it was a neat little piece of the universe. It didn’t get into the movie.

Nathan Fillion Still Hopeful For McU Role Beyond Guardians Of The Galaxy Cameos

Will those tongue-in-cheek Simon Williams Easter eggs lead to Wonder Man‘s addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Nathan Fillion certainly hopes so.

Barring tie-in posters for the original Guardians of the Galaxy, Fillion’s depiction of Simon Williams/Wonder Man has largely been relegated to the sidelines, and a Guardians 2 set picture featuring the actor in full costume as the “douchey actor/superhero” prompted an extensive post from James Gunn explaining why Nathan Fillion didn’t make the cut.

But if anything, the decision to pull Wonder Man’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has only fuelled Fillion’s ambition to introduce Simon Williams to the McU in the not-so-distant future. While appearing on The Ara Show on Kiss FM (via Cbr), the fan-favorite actor offered some context to that scrapped Easter egg scene, before hinting that there is now an “opportunity” to welcome Williams to the fray – for real,

Nathan Fillion & James Gunn Excited For The Possibility of Adding Wonder Man To Guardians

Recently we have learned that Nathan Fillion, star of the cult television series Firefly and the film Serenity, has joined the cast of Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events for its second season. In the past Fillion has appeared in many comic book films as a voice actor. He is mostly known for voicing Hal Jordan in some of DC's animated films like Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox and Justice League: Doom. He has one live action comic book role in Guardians of the Galaxy, in the form of an unnamed Kyln prisoner that Groot take easily takes out.

He recently had a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which unfortunately got cut. In the same way we saw a Batman poster during Man of Steel, Fillion's cameo, or easter egg if you want to call it that instead,

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Nathan Fillion Cameo Posters Revealed

As you may now, Nathan Fillion was supposed to have a very minuscule role in this May's hit sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But he was axed, left to die on the cutting room floor. All is not lost, though, as director James Gunn is sharing a look at exactly what this cameo would have consisted of. And it's all spoof posters.

Earlier in the month, Gunn confirmed that his friend Nathan Fillion had a small part to play in Guardians 2. Though his role would have not been an acting one. Instead, Fillion posed for a number of movie posters for a Simon Williams film festival happening at a theater that would have been seen during the Earth attack sequence played out by Ego the Living Planet.

The good news to come from this is that Simon WIlliams is now officially part of the Marvel cinematic canon. Williams

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Could Include Earth-Based Heroes

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has only just been released this last month and people are already wondering about what the next film will entail. While James Gunn hasn't revealed too much, he's been good at answering questions to the best of his ability.

Of the many questions that he's been asked on Facebook, one fan asked if Peter Quill will remain the only human in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Gunn responded with this:

"Human characters are no longer out of consideration."

Brief and to the point, but what a point it makes! It doesn't necessarily mean that there will be humans, but the possibility is now out there. So many characters would be fun to see in space with the crew. Nathan Fillion has been teased as being the McU's Wonder Man in fake movie posters. Although the scene was cut, It would be great to

Resident Evil(S)

Over the weekend Constantin Films and Sony Gems announced they would rebooting the Resident Evil franchise following on from Paul W.S. Anderson’s swansong Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Not only that, but a whopping six films are currently planned. Read more here.

James Gunn on cutting Nathan Fillion’s Simon Williams cameo from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, movie posters released

Back in April of last year it was revealed that Nathan Fillion would be making a cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as actor-turned-superhero Simon Williams (a character better known to comic book fans as Wonder Man), with a batch of set photos revealing a series of faux movie posters for the Simon Williams Film Festival.

Unfortunately, Fillion’s cameo ended up on the cutting room floor, and director James Gunn has now taken to Facebook to explain Fillion’s absence, as well as unveiling two of the movie posters, featuring Fillion’s Williams in a Tony Stark biopic and as the Marvel character Arkon…

“(Nathan’s) been in every movie I’ve directed – even as a monstrous, perverted voice in Guardians of the Galaxy. I didn’t have a good cameo for him in Vol. 2 – and I wanted to bring him more fully into the McU at some point,

James Gunn Unveils All of Nathan Fillion’s Simon Williams Movie Posters From Guardians Vol. 2

There was originally a scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set on Earth that featured a Simon Williams Film Festival. There were a bunch of fake movie posters designed for this scene that featured Nathan Fillion as actor Simon Williams, who is also the hero Wonder Man in the comics. The scene ended up being cut from the film because it didn't work with the flow of the film.

We already saw one poster that featured the character in a Tony Stark biopic, but now we have a whole collection of fake movie posters to share with you thanks to director James Gunn! My favorite is of Toxic Janitor 2, which is a parody of The Toxic Avenger. There's a fun bit of trivia behind that as The Toxic Avenger was produced by Troma, which is the little studio that gave Gunn his start in filmmaking.

The other posters in the series include Arkon,

Poster and Details Revealed For Nathan Fillion's Cut Cameo In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

So now that Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 is out and there was no Nathan Fillion to be found, what was he supposed to do in the film? According to director James Gunn, Fillion was playing Wonder Man's alter ego Simon Williams, who was starring in a Hollywood biopic about Iron Man, entitled Tony Stark.

Basically, the joke is that the guy who is secretly Wonder Man is starring in a film about the billionaire philanthropist who everyone knows as Iron Man. Originally, this poster was supposed to be featured in a shot on Earth, but Gunn says he cut it as it slowed down the film. I would love if one day the idea is revisited and we see a trailer for Fillion pretending to be Tony Stark when he's actually Wonder Man! Wouldn't that be awesome?

Here's what Gunn had to say about it on his Facebook

Why Nathan Fillion's Cameo Was Cut from Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Last spring, while production was under way in Atlanta on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, some fans snapped photos of a movie theater set, which was being used for a "Simon Williams Film Festival," which showed several movie posters featuring Nathan Fillion as Simon Williams himself. This lead to speculation about whether or not we'd actually see Nathan Fillion in the flesh as Simon Williams, but as it turned out, we didn't even get to see the scene with these posters, since it was cut from the movie. Thankfully, the ever-transparent James Gunn has taken to social media, to explain why this fun Easter Egg scene was cut, and to showcase an official version of the Tony Stark biopic poster that featured Nathan Fillion as Stark, which is quite reminiscent of the Steve Jobs poster.

James Gunn took to Facebook earlier today to showcase this poster, while promising to

James Gunn Explains The Fully Story Behind Nathan Fillion’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Cameo

For months, fans were excited to see Firefly star Nathan Fillion cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Though the actor had lent his voice to an alien in the first movie, this promised to be a more substantial role, as he was playing Simon Williams/Wonder Man. Unfortunately, however, when the sequel hit theatres, Fillion was nowhere in sight. So what gives?

Thankfully, director James Gunn has taken to Facebook today to explain “the full story” behind the cameo and just why it was eventually left on the cutting room floor. It’s a lengthy post, but well worth the read.

“As many of you know one of my best friends in the world is Nathan Fillion. Along with Michael Rooker and Gregg Henry he’s been in every movie I’ve directed – even as a monstrous, perverted voice in Guardians of the Galaxy. I didn’t have

Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and the cut Nathan Fillion scene

David Crow May 18, 2017

James Gunn talks about why Nathan Fillion isn't in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and what his cut scene would've been.

Nathan Fillion and James Gunn have had a long history. Fillion was the star in the first film Gunn ever directed, the deliciously grotesque Slither. He also has appeared in every film since then, including as the voice of a digital prison punk in 2014’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Yet he is nowhere to be seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, the box office-crushing Marvel Studios extravaganza.

Now James Gunn has taken to Facebook to come clean on why Fillion, a space opera icon in his own right after Firefly, was not boarded in the final version of Guardians Of The Galaxy 2. Once again, Gunn confirms that Fillion actually was going to play a relatively important bush league superhero from the Marvel comics universe,

Nathan Fillion teases Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 deleted scene, Miley Cyrus confirmed for voice role

Warning. Minor spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 follow…

Back in April of last year some set photos from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrived online showing movie posters from the ‘Simon Williams Film Festival’, which also revealed that Nathan Fillion is portraying the character of Simon Williams, better known to Marvel comic book fans as Wonder Man.

As we await the release of the film (which is out a week today here in the UK), Fillion has taken to Instagram to share in image from a deleted scene from the hotly-anticipated sequel…

Update: As confirmed by director James Gunn, the image isn’t exactly from a deleted scene, but rather Fillion having some fun on set. That being said, it does sound like Fillion’s scene has been cut…

Nathan Fillion Shares Hilarious Photo From His Cut Scene in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Update from James Gunn:

For the record, that was never a scene in the movie - that’s simply @NathanFillion clowning around on set. https://t.co/o3oRI3O3xw

James Gunn (@JamesGunn) April 21, 2017

The photo you see above was shared by Nathan Fillion and it features a scene he was in that was cut out of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The image came with the following note from the actor:

"From a scene you won't see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Is the movie still spectacular without it? Yes."

Fillion looks absolutely hilarious in his space barbarian-looking costume. There was a rumor that Fillion was supposed to be playing Simon Williams aka Wonder Man in the film, but this photo doesn't really line up with that rumor.

It looks to me like he was just some kind of space barbarian, which is still cool!

Psychological Thriller Nomis Taps Stanley Tucci, Nathan Fillion And Minka Kelly

As if the cast of David Raymond’s psychological thriller Nomis wasn’t enviable enough, The Hollywood Reporter brings word today of some new recruits.

With Henry Cavill (Sand Castle), Ben Kingsley and Baywatch star Alexandra Daddario already locked in, THR has confirmed that Stanley Tucci, Nathan Fillion and Minka Kelly have all climbed on board alongside fellow newcomers Brendan Fletcher and Mpho Koaho. Little is currently known about how each of their respective characters factor into the storyline, but we understand David Raymond’s genre movie centers on “an American police force that traps an online predator, only to realize the depth of his crimes goes far beyond anything anticipated.” The Zodiac Killer for a digital age? Color us intrigued.

Directing from his own script, David Raymond now presides over a truly star-studded lineup. In terms of those new additions, we know Stanley Tucci has a small part to
