While we wait patiently for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, we’ve got another outing into our favourite galaxy far, far away in the form of Gareth Edward’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film hits cinemas this December, but we got our first look at it yesterday via a teaser trailer [watch it here].

We’ve got another badass female in the lead, Ben Mendelsohn as the film’s big bad and Forest Whitaker doing his Ghost Dog things. But what did the Flickering Myth staff make of it?

Scott Watson: Watched it six times already and it looks dark, moody, brooding, brutal, those At-ATs on the beach… Shadow Troopers… that is Shadow Troopers right? My mind just kinda went Boom.

The Captain America: Civil War Trailer Synced With Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" Is (Un)Surprisingly Perfect

  • BuzzSugar
If you've been on the Internet at all over the past few weeks - or if, like me, you've been anxiously awaiting the film adaptation of Marvel's Civil War comic series since 2006 - you've undoubtedly come across the trailer for Captain America: Civil War once or twice. Perhaps you've even seen it cleverly mashed up with Adele's "Hello." But thanks to a clever Tumblr user, this redub featuring "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift has officially made the Civil War trailer epic. Give it a watch below, and you'll be impressed by how perfectly it all fits together! Call it wishful thinking, but perhaps Taylor will collaborate with Marvel and Disney for the official film score? http://brave-princessss.tumblr.com/post/135224897309/hohohoesquartz-neonpossums

The News Reel #32: Is ‘Star Wars’ Culturally Relevant, or Just Big?

This week it was revealed that Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has already raked in over $50 million in advanced ticket sales, projecting it to be the largest opening weekend movie of all time. But If Avatar is any clue, bigness at the box office does not alone make a work of art that matters to people and that will endure over time. We discuss what makes something “culturally relevant” in an Internet age, looking at movies as far and wide as Frozen and The Tree of Life, as well as why TV has for some time been the more culturally relevant medium. Plus, we talk new trailers for Captain America: Civil War, The Nice Guys, and Superman v. Batman, and we have the inside scoop on Michael Moore’s thoughts on losing his MPAA ratings appeal.

The Greatest Captain America/Adele Mash-Up Ever!!

  • TheMovieBit
The highly anticipated first trailer for Captain America: Civil War was released last week, shattering all sorts of records with sixty one million views in its first twenty four hours, but as sombre and dark as our first look at the war which sees Avenger battle Avenger, it could have been a bit more melancholy and highlight the breaking down of the Cap/Tony bromance. Enter Vimeo user Anthony Meadows, who hit upon the amazing idea of mashing together Marvel’s super hero smackdown with Adele’s hit song Hello. I can’t really do it justice, so just watch it for your self below. Hello - The Civil War Bromance Version (Adele) from Anthony Meadows on Vimeo.

The 'Civil War' Trailer Is Even Better as a Bromance Set to Adele's 'Hello'

Just when you think Adele song mashups must be played out by now, another win like this emerges. The "Captain America: Civil War" trailer was just released last week, showcasing the lost love between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). So one fan remixed the entire trailer, setting it to Adele's "Hello" and calling it "Hello - The Civil War Bromance Version."

In the trailer, poster Anthony Meadows notes, "Cap says hello to Tony from the other side." Here's the emotional missed connection:

Sniff. He's sorry for breaking your heart, man!

Unlike most "mashups" videos, this one doesn't re-edit footage to fit the theme, it just rolls with Marvel's actual trailer. You could probably do the same thing for "Batman v Superman" and a bunch of other superhero and action movies. Maybe

Someone Mixed The Civil War Trailer With Adele's "Hello", Because... Why Not?

That Captain America: Civil War trailer was unexpectedly emotional. I mean, we knew we were in for some great action and drama, but none of us figured we'd be left bawling over the tattered remains of Tony Stark & Steve Rogers' friendship... after the first teaser no less! The Russo Brothers really look like they've created an emotional gut-punch of a movie here. You know who else is a specialist in making people bawl? Adele. Now, one emotionally manipulative very creative video editor (Anthony Meadows) has decided to mix her hit single "Hello" with the Civil War trailer - and the results are suprisingly heartbreaking. Naturally, the hotly debated 'love triangle' between Cap, Iron Man & Bucky Barnes takes center stage... Hello - The Civil War Bromance Version (Adele) from Anthony Meadows on Vimeo. Not bad, eh? *sob* What did you think? Sound off below - and be sure to

How Hollywood soundtracks repeat the same old tune

If you see a movie for the first time and swear you've heard the score before, it may not be your imagination...

Last month, the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (Afm) sued six major studios for reusing film soundtracks in other films without paying the appropriate compensation. It's the kind of news that will make people roll their eyes. Ah yes, they'll say after seeing the headlines. Typical Hollywood. Not even the music's original any more.

But go beyond the headlines about reusing the same music too much and delve into the lawsuit and it reveals an interesting insight into the kind of situations where music does get repeated.

The lawsuit, it soon becomes evident, isn't about the use of music in itself (a quick browse through the soundtracks for the titles in question, such as This Means War or Argo, reveals that they have

Samuel L. Jackson Says He’s Not In ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ But Wants To Re-Up His Nick Fury Contract

There was a time when Marvel Studios was so cheap they were either losing actors or cutting the cord with talent when they got too expensive. Terrence Howard was famously replaced in “Iron Man 2” after he dared to ask for more dough (the cast got more, especially Rdj), Mickey Rourke memorably carped about Marvel’s frugality before signing on to the same “Iron Man” sequel, and back in the day Samuel L. Jackson told journalists “maybe I won’t be Nick Fury” because "there seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world." Cooler heads prevailed, both Marvel and Jackson got what they wanted and the actor was signed to a whopping nine-film contract, reportedly the longest of all the Marvel deals thus far. But perhaps because of that contract, and the number of appearances left on it — two films; he’s appeared in two “Iron Man” films,

Game Of Thrones VFX Editor Killed By Lion On Safari

In a sad turn of events, a prominent Game of Thrones crew member died violently while on vacation.Earlier today, Variety passed on the word that it was visual effects editor Katherine Chappell who died in a previously-reported lion attack in South Africa. Chappell was only 29 years old, but had amassed an impressive body of work on both Hollywood and indie productions, including: Captain America: Winter Soldier; Godzilla (2014); Hellbender; Noah; and the upcoming Ron Howard film, In The Heart Of The Sea.Chappell was visiting Lion Park in Johannesburg when she rolled down a window to take photos of a nearby pride of lions. Presumably, a lioness felt threatened and attacked, lunging into the window of Chappell's tour car, and fatally bit the VFX editor on the throat. TwitchFilm extends our condolences to Chappell's family,...

‘Game of Thrones’ Editor Killed by Lion in South Africa

The American tourist who was mauled to death by a lion in South Africa has been identified as Katherine Chappell, a visual effects editor who previously worked on “Game of Thrones.” She was 29.

Chappell was visiting Johannesburg’s Lion Park on Monday when a lion lunged through the window of her vehicle and attacked her.

Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at the Lion Park, told the Associated Press the 9-year-old lioness fatally bit Chappell in the neck after she took pictures of the animal, which was less than four feet away from the vehicle.

“They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy. The lion bit the lady through the window,” he said.

Chappell died of her wounds before the paramedics arrived. She had been participating in a volunteer mission to protect African wildlife.

The vfx editor, who also worked on “Captain America: Winter Soldier” and “Godzilla,

Agent Carter coming to Fox in the UK

Finally! The terrific Agent Carter starring Hayley Atwell has been snapped up by Fox in the UK and starts in July...

Hayley Atwell recently intimated on Twitter that a deal to bring Agent Carter to the UK was on the horizon, and here it is: Fox has acquired the rights to air the Marvel show on these shores.

The first eight-episode season of Agent Carter, which went down a storm in the Us after airing in Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mid-season gap earlier this year, comes to Fox in the UK in July.

The news comes after months of UK Marvel fans waiting for legitimate means to see the 1940s-set spy thriller. Despite being the home of its sister show, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Channel 4 told Den Of Geek last year that it had no plans to pick up the period off-shoot. Would Channel 5 step in, as it did for Gotham?
