Trivia | The film was in the post-production stage when the Republic of Salò was proclaimed in September 1943; Mussolini was deposed and the country occupied by the Germans. All cinematic activity was then transferred north, to Venice, but Luigi Chiarini refused to go and was forced to abandon the project. The film was edited and dubbed in Venice, but without his approval. "La locandiera" was released in December 1944. See more » |
