Not a biography of the life of orchestra leader/clarinetist Ted Lewis (Ted Lewis) but just an incident he was involved in during world-war-two and a flashback incident from world-war-one involving the son of a couple he knew. While performing at an army base in world-war two, Lewis convinces a courting serviceman to marry immediately and not wait until the war is over...and, in flashback, he tell the story of a pianist, Jerry Stewart (Larry Parks), who had his hand injured in the trenches but returned home to marry his sweetheart and became a trumpet player.
