Mr. Laurel & Mr. Hardy Invite You To Join Them On A Little Adventure
Hoping to forget Ollie's blighted love life, the Boys join the French Foreign Legion. Quickly spreading chaos, they soon find themselves sentenced to be shot. Making their escape, they unwittingly become THE FLYING DEUCES when they find themselves in a runaway airplane...
While not one of their classics, in their typical slapstick fashion Stan & Ollie make this a very enjoyable film to watch. By this point in their partnership, the Boys worked so well together that it was almost impossible to imagine one without the other. Highlights: Stan's Bedsprings Serenade, and a delightful little soft-shoe to `Shine On, Harvest Moon' (Ollie does the vocalizing).
Jean Parker & Reginald Gardiner supply the romantics, although they're given little to do. Old pros Charles Middleton as the Commandant, and James Finlayson as the Jailor are given a few moments to shine.
