Storyline

Based off of a one time T.V. show, two Los Angeles S.W.A.T. officers Jim Street and Brian Gamble were sent in to foil an extremely violent bank robbery. Although they thwarted the robbery, they shot a hostage in the process. Street was suspended from S.W.A.T. while Gamble was fired altogether. After 6 months, a veteran S.W.A.T. officer, Daniel Harrelson or "Hondo", is told to assemble a S.W.A.T. team for his division. He chooses other S.W.A.T. officers as well as 3 rookies. However, after they pass the S.W.A.T. training, they receive a message that a French crime boss, known as Alex Montell is trying to escape from prison. This will not be easy to prevent, especially after Montell promises $100 Million to his rescuers. Written by John Wiggins

Trivia

Officer Sanchez (Michelle Rodriguez) is stated to be in Metro Division for many years, but never making S.W.A.T. Metro, or Metropolitan Division, is an elite division of the L.A.P.D., containing many specialized units such as the Special Investigation Section (S.I.S.). Metro is not a geographical division like the other stations, but a division for special units that serve all of Los Angeles. S.W.A.T. is part of the Metro Division. So Sanchez is already in a special division, just not part of S.W.A.T. Contrast that with Deke (LL Cool J), who is a regular patrol officer in the Southwest Division, covering only that section of Los Angeles. See more »

'Die Hard' continues to influence to this day...
1 September 2003 | by WalterFrithSee all my reviews

This movie is no doubt influenced by the 'Die Hard' series. In this case, 1990's 'Die Hard 2' where the plot involved a drug dealer. A drug dealer in this case offers 100 million dollars to anyone who can bust him out after he is captured. Naturally, everyone with a greedy agenda, including some people that really make things sticky for the good guys, try to spring him. This film has a nice gradual build to its eventual payoff and Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson are in good form. I only wish that their characters had been a little better developed. It's nice to see a movie where a character has a particular manner, saying or habit that makes their personality instantly recognizable. This is one of the better films to be based on 70's television. Certainly better than the 'Charlie's Angels' films (rubbish).
