The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934)
Sykes' attempt to escape across the roof, using Oliver as a human shield, culminating in the police marksman shooting him, bears far more resemblance to the death of the "heavy" in Hitchcock's film than it does to the death of Sykes in Dickens' novel (in which Oliver is not with him, and he dies by accidental hanging).
