Storyline

This is a great comedy of mistaken identity, in an unusual way. The police are after a guy named "James Brown", who killed a policeman. It happens that the other night, another "James Brown" and his friend Chic (the main characters of this movie) got in a fight with two guys after drinking. They don't quite remember everything that happened - and they think that they must be the "cop killers" the police are looking for!

It also happens that the police are looking for a different "James Brown" (the main character) to tell him that his uncle overseas died, and left him a large inheritance. As the police chase after him to tell him the good news, before the policeman can tell them the story, James and his friend Chic tie up the policeman, and make their getaway!

They escape to to a sheep station in the outback (named Banjaroo), where they think they can get away and lie low for a while. They get work there. There, James finds romance, Chic finds an old drinking buddy, and the police ...

Funny and charming comedy!
2 July 2007 | by drice-10See all my reviews

This is a funny, charming early Australian comedy, based on mistaken identity.

James Brown and his buddy, Chic Williams, get into a fight one night after drinking. But the next day, they can't remember very well exactly what happened. However, they then hear that the police are looking for a "James Brown" - who is wanted for killing a policeman! They think it must be them the police are looking for! On the other hand, the police are looking for the main character - who is also named "James Brown" - to tell him that his uncle overseas died, and that he's inherited a lot of money.

This sets up the rest of the story. Overall, it's a funny (and charming) comedy, with some great routines. It's set both in the city and in the Australian outback. The funniest moments go to the brilliant Pat Hanna. As well as producing and writing the movie, Hanna also plays James Brown's sidekick, Chic Williams.
