Storyline

The story centers around a man and a woman, whose fates are intertwined and will change forever. Nelson is an avid advertiser living in San Francisco. One day, during a driving test, he meets Sara, a beautiful but seemingly eccentric woman. But, she is falsely accused of cheating and ends up failing the test because of Nelson. After getting kicked out of the exam, Sara waits for him outside and starts to insult him. However, Nelson ignores her and takes off. Then, she traces him down and shows up at his place. She promises to leave him alone only if he gives her a ride. Later that night, she asks him to live with her throughout November on the promise that his life will change for the better. He turns her down saying that he has a girlfriend. On the first day of November, after being fired and dumped on the very same day, Nelson decides to give it a try and then somehow, agrees to spend the whole month with Sara and finds himself in a desperate love affair that he will remember for ... Trivia

Apparently, to prepare himself for the cross-dressing scene, Jason Isaacs wandered the drag clubs, picking up on behavior of people there. He wanted to bring Keanu Reeves along, but it would be hard to go undercover with the star of the newly-released The Matrix (1999), so he went alone. See more »

Goofs

In the beginning of the film Nelson is in a towel talking on the phone. In the matter of one line Nelson becomes fully dressed. There is not enough time for him to have buttoned the shirt and put on his belt. See more »

Quotes

Nelson Moss: Have you ever heard of Phalaenopsis Sunderiana? It reminded me of you.
Sara: You got the job, didn't you?
Nelson Moss: Best offer anyone ever made me.
Sara: So when do you start?
Nelson Moss: We had a little problem agreeing on that. He suggested immediately, I suggested... never.
Sara: Never?
Nelson Moss: Never.

Alternate Versions

In order to get a 'PG-13' instead of a 'R' the scene where Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron are in a bathtub together and some dialogue had to be edited/changed (you don't see how his head goes under water and that she laughs). See more »

One month...
28 December 2005 | by Sinbad83See all my reviews

I was never a fan of love movies, but this one hurt me so bad! Keanu and amazing Charlize gave their best and created one of the best love stories ever.

I couldn't believe that Keanu can play like that and convince me that Nelson fell in love for just one month.

I like Sara's story and the way she chooses to live. Charlize, as beautiful as always, made Sara strong and weak at the same time.

The great supporting role of drag queen Chaz Watley by Jason Isaacs. I never imagined he'd play something like this!

This is the only movie that made me cry and that's why I ranked him with the highest mark. BRAVO!!!
