Hallelujah (1929)

Goofs

Hallelujah

Edit

Revealing mistakes

One of the opening shots is of a line of people picking cotton, but there is as much cotton in the field behind them as there is in front of them. Obviously the actors and extras were simply instructed to walk out into an unharvested cotton field and bend over and pretend to pick cotton just for the duration of the shot.

Miscellaneous

When fighting for the revolver after the craps game seven shots are fired from a six shooter.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Zeke is shown singing atop the train car, the audio of his singing does not match his lip movements, probably due to difficulties relating to dubbing in 1929 (the footage on the train was clearly shot silent, with singing and effects added in post-production).
The dialogue does not match the mouths of several cast members in the scene where Zeke disembarks from his train car and rides through town on a donkey. It is especially visible in the shot of Hot Shot harassing Missy Rose.

Boom mic visible

When Zeke confronts Chick and Hot Shot and strong-arms them in front of the crowd, the shadow of the microphone falls across Hot Shot as he is pushed to the background of the scene and tries to regain his composure. The shadow of the boom is also visible falling across the extras behind him.
