The Love Burglar (1919) - Lost Silent ?
3 January 2017 | by mpickfordfanSee all my reviews

Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

Wealthy David Strong ( Wallace Reid ) finds his errant brother about to be robbed by a gang in an underworld joint. David takes his brother's loot, sends him home, and then fights the gang leader, Coast-to-Coast Taylor ( Wallace Beery ) and several others. His victory and appearance cause him to be mistaken for "The Colt Kid," who was just released from prison. Cabaret singer Joan Grey ( Anna Q. Nilsson ), to put off the advances of Taylor, says that David is her fiancé. To prove this, David marries her in the joint, after which they live together without consummating the marriage, and fall in love. During a robbery at the wedding of David's sister, at which Taylor has arranged for David to be arrested, Joan warns David and is jailed with him. After the real criminals' arrest, David's mother identifies him, and David's sister identifies Joan as a college friend and author. Joan, confessing she was looking for atmosphere and story materials, agrees to a real marriage with David.

This 1919 silent melodrama was based on a play, produced by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, starring Wallace Reid, Anna Q. Nilsson and Wallace Beery. The survival status of The Love Burglar (1919) is listed in the American Silent Feature Film Database as; No holdings located in archives.
