Storyline

In this action thriller, Denzel Washington plays Nick Styles, the assistant district attorney of L.A. The film opens in his early days as a cop on the L.A.P.D. During a carnival, master criminal Earl Talbot Blake creates a scene after a botched drug deal. Styles and Blake confront each other, during which Blake is wounded by Styles and later sent to prison. Seven years later, Blake escapes from prison during a parole board hearing to carry out his revenge against Styles, and what follows is a violent series of events that destroys Styles' career. This sets the stage for one last bloody duel between Styles and Blake. Written by Stephen Currence <billyc@erols.com>

Trivia

The video camera that "The Camera Bug" is using at the fair appears to be a two-piece Canon VC-10 series color camcorder, which was appropriate to the setting of the scene, in which it appears (1983). The camera transmitted the video signal to a VCR, which you can see in a bag slung over The Camera Bug's shoulder. See more »

Quotes

Earl Talbot Blake: What the fuck is going on?
Kim: It's Styles. His friends grabbed me and dragged me here.
Earl Talbot Blake: That's impossible!
Kim: Well, I saw him.
Earl Talbot Blake: I killed his life, and he killed himself. You're lying!
Kim: Lying? You stupid, macho fuck! I can't believe this! I can't believe that I've been kissing your ass all these fucking years, and you're such a shithead! You didn't kill his life, and you didn't fuck his mind. You know what you did? You pissed him off. You really fucking pissed him off, and now you're fucked!

This movie rocks! The double cat-and-mouse game played by Washington and Lithgow works. If you are looking for an action movie that provides plenty of thrills, conflicts, drama, chases, and breathtaking suspenses and actually has a PLOT, then this film is for you.

Washington and Lithgow are both first rate, as always, and this movie does not disappoint. Watch it!
