The "voiceover" narration by the juvenile lead actor may remind many of Fred Savage in the TV series The Wonder Years (1988). It is not surprising that self-professed co-director/co-screenwriter of Little Manhattan, Mark Levin, wrote ten of "The Wonder Years" episodes, co-produced twenty-four episodes and was story editor for twenty-three episodes. From the hospital scene at 1:07:40 Gabe wears a cast on his right arm through the rest of the film, except for the scene from 1:12:47 to 1:13:00 where Gabe rides his Xootr kick scooter (identified at 0:25:35 in the DVD commentary) from the apartment to the tunnel in Central Park, which was actually the first scene shot because first day shooting was rained out at the planned location.
