I rented this movie having seen the IMDb profile back in February, when the film opened to limited release. Having always been something of a horror/B-film enthusiast, I picked it up.
In short, this film is forgettable at best. Jenna Dewan makes the best of what she's working with, which includes: a decent plot, subpar actors, and little character development.
I had read numerous reviews from people gushing about how "Tamara" was such a different horror movie, but there really is nothing extraordinary about it. The film suffers from typical bad horror movie disease in that the plot climaxes too soon, forsaking interesting character development (i.e. the poignant vulnerability of Tamara as a mousy girl) in favor of shock value and parlor tricks (evidenced by Tamara's exacting of her revenge in the corniest ways possible.
Save your money and invest in a quality flick like Magnolia or Broken Flowers.
