All six rounds of the this actual boxing match were filmed and distributed for viewing to the public. Only part of the first round is preserved; the last five have apparently been lost.

Corbett, former champion of the world, and Peter Courtney. The films are listed '1st. round,' '2nd round,' 3rd round,' '4th round,' 5th round,' '6th round' . . . Price. 45.00 each."

From Edison Films catalog: "This is not a fac-simile or a fake of any description, but an actual contest between James J. Corbett, former champion of the world, and Peter Courtney. The fight consists [of] six rounds, each round contains 150 feet. Price, each round, 22.50".

Two rounds of this fight survive. One round is the Library of Congress footage in which the referee moves around the ring with the fighters.

The other round with much better quality (Setanta/Youtube) shows the referree more stationary and unwilling to move from the center staying within the camera frame and also Corbett knocks Courtney down and the fighters go to their respective corners. Still the rounds are not listed in order. We don't know, and may never know, how the rounds were lined up. The two rounds are from the same fight as the ringside people are wearing the same clothing.

Preserved in the Library of Congress' Hendricks (Gordon) Collection. What is left of the original is one reel of film 17 feet long.
