Tim Blake Nelson,
One of the less gruesome cannibal tales. A woman is searching for her missing sister and she finds hope in the folly of a dead hit-man who has a film on him. The film shows some sadistic torture and a brief cameo by her sister taken by a documentary film crew who obviously didn't make it out. She then leaves for the jungle joined by cannibal film regular Robert Kerman (playing Mark Butler), where they meet up with the standard Cannibal tribe and a Jim Jones like cult leader. Of course escape is next to impossible with the always-hungry cannibals waiting them out and the crazy followers of the suicide cult leader ready to eat them on command.Written by

[when Karan spoke to Jonas, holding the whiskey bottle that was discovered somewhere at Mark's hut]
Karan accuses you of drinking alcohol, by transgressing the rules. Did you understand what will happen to you?
Listen, Jonas. Whiskey is my passion, but, uh... I haven't had another drop since I've been here.
Karan says he founded your bottle under your bed.
[looks at Karan]
Well, Karan is a liar. Go ahead, tell him, Jonas, tell him he's a liar.

"Mangiati Vivi" aka "Eaten Alive" is a decent cannibal flick.Yes,it is also a big mess. You've got Stone Age cannibals,a Jim Jones-type cult, hired assassins and brutal animal butchery thrown on-screen every five minutes just to keep the viewer awake. As for the gore, one has to wait an inordinate amount of time for the crimson to really start flying, but the last half-hour has some truly revolting mayhem on display. One native has his penis cut off before being speared.A woman has her breast cut off then eaten;another girl is completely dismembered."Eaten Alive" is quite nasty at times, but it is a joke in comparison to "Cannibal Holocaust" or even "Make Them Die Slowly".If you love Italian splatter cinema you won't be disappointed.Highly recommended.
