- Frosina is one of the many Macedonian wives whose husbands are economic emigrants abroad. Marriage does not bring them a family, only the burden of life itself. After her husband's short visits, she gives birth to children who do not live long because of the poverty into which they have been born. She gives birth to them alone, and she buries them alone. Only her last child, Klime, survives all his various illnesses and grows up to be her one joy in life. The war breaks out...

Lena tries to persuade Simon to give himself up to the authorities, but the arguments of Kalpak, who uses the lost wallet as a threat, are stronger. In the attempt to cross the lake in a stolen boat they are chased by the police. Kalpak gets killed, Simon is wounded and the girl Lena drops the narcotics into the lake.

- In 1918, after the end of the Balkan Wars and the First World War, hundreds of Macedonians immigrated to Bulgaria. Among them there were pro-Bulgarian Macedonians who wanted to exploit the emigrants for their own political purposes. A number of decent freedom fighters were eliminated. The victim of one of the assassins in Sofia was Gjorche Petrov. His assassin is a young boy who doesn't even know that he is shooting dead the man who is one of the last real fighters for the freedom of Macedonia. By discovering that he has been unknowingly involved in the pro-Bulgarian organization and has been used for an execution of this vile act, it means the death sentence for the young boy.

Although the possibility of going with Muller is very attractive, Jana stays in Skopje. Her place is beside the young man whom she loves and belongs to, with whom she is related with true love...

- After the liberation in 1946, in a village in western Macedonia implemented collectivization farms. - Fidan is a young man who lives and works in the town. His father Dicho is a peasant who was a fighter both in the war and in the revolution as well. After the war he supports the idea for collectivization and industrialization of the villages in general. Being sincerely persuaded in those ideas he works on it, but he is often confronted with most of village fellows, and most eagerly by Lazar, his closest friend, and adopted brother. After the failure of the cooperative movement, Dicho leaves the village. Soon he dies and his son Fidan fulfills his father's last wish burying him in his native village. Being there Fidan tries to find himself in the new circumstances, in the new pursuit of cattle-breeding which is a great challenge for him, as well in making new contacts with the people of the village. He falls in love with a girl, named Blaguna, who is Lazar's daughter and soon she becomes his wife. Although he is exposed to the mistiness of his village fellows, Fidan is occupied by sheep raising with all his enthusiasm. However, trade laws are severe and unfavorable, and in such circumstances it is not possible for him to realize purposes and projects. Fidan's return to his father's home brings him neither spiritual peace that he was looking for nor new contents in his lifestyle.
- The films takes place in a small town where the Germans are getting ready to retreat near the end of the war. But a carload of Russian prisoners get people to feed them, then the prisoners overcome their guards and escape. The town people try to save them from the Germans but do not succeed.

The return of Trandafil, the old man working abroad, Kate's uncle, is a special event in the village's life. The destiny of a great number of the inhabitants depends on the wealth of the uncle returned from America. However there is no place for faith and hope as the uncle returns with no earnings at all.

In that way Dano, Done, Igor and Boro take action at the airport, with burning the planes. In reaction, the police performs raid, they take away only young people that are exposed on large tortures. Simultaneously, the partisan squad trying to crosses Vardar (river in Skopje) enters in ambush. Boys are helping the wounded Mite Dimov to avoid the ambush and they take him at Angja, while Nikola is absent. The Police searches all suspicious houses and finds the wounded partisan in the house of Nikola. After hard torture, without admitting in front of the police, Mite is killed. Through the city are scattered flyers, railwaymen play the sirens, stores are closed. Local Committee decides to organize assassination on Emanuel. When the day came, boys take their places on the street, in front of Emanuel's home, and when his car take off, they kill him. After the assassination, boys must leave town. However, in time of leaving, they're trapped in ambush, all of them are killed, except Dano.

- March 1903. The Ottoman Empire is in a process of disintegration. Only Macedonia is not still liberated in the Balkans. The Macedonian revolutionary movement is in full growth. The Turks are trying to keep their last bastion in Europe. The Macedonian people are being exposed to the most severe oppressions as it is due to the revenge of the Turks for supporting and protecting the komitas - Macedonian freedom-fighters. In such a case the Turks besiege a village where a weeding ceremony is taking place. They shoot at the peasants, round them up and most of them are being taken away. More than two hundred people are taken prisoner in the fortress. The Turks sentence them to from 15 to 101 years in prison. Then the prisoners are loaded on a ship and are transported to Asia Minor. On their way through the desert the Macedonians are exposed to various humiliations. A lot of them overeat and die. In October 1908, the prisoners arrive at the place where they are to serve the sentence.
- The film reflects the life of the Macedonian emigrants and migrant workers in Australia. With their going away in far away countries and living abroad, some of them have succeed in socializing, but there are still some of them who always remain with the dilemma of returning in their native country. He climbs onto the train and goes to see his mother, who has just returned from internment. When he returned to the brigade, Mitko was declared a deserter and was disarmed and bound. Since he lost his weapon, the Commissioner sent him to patrol the action to take weapons from the Germans. All partisans patrol that went with him dying and the only Mitko and Vane, who was seriously injured remain alive. Thinking it was dead Vane, Angelov returns to the brigade. But the commander did not believe him, thinking that he had fled from the battle, and that is why the prison in the basement. In the meantime, get wounded fighter Vane, and the story of the heroic struggle led by Mitko. But at the same time, a military court condemned him to death for desertion.

In one of them also lives a girl named Djemile, sister of the new teacher friend, who by chance is the first person he met in the village. The beautiful girl attracts attention to Damjan who in the beginning, maybe irresponsibly, is courting to her, disregarding the patriarchal environment he enters. Love is born, which tragic component is present since day one. Different religious beliefs doesn't allow possibility for a happy ending of this love, that pretty soon will stop being secret. Under strong pressure from the family of Djemile, and from the village in general, Damjan is gonna leave. Short after, like in madness, he returns back. But, in that time continuum, Djemile killed herself, jumping in the overflow river, aside that her great love began there.
