- Jam is a young adult with Down syndrome, born in a remote area of Mongolia. His mother sacrificed herself to defend his human rights and chose to live in a remote quite area, away from people in order to raise her son peacefully and to protect him from social discrimination. For that purpose, she let her youngest daughter be adopted by another family and left the town to raise her son by engaging in wildlife. In spite of the difficulties of Down syndrome, thanks to his mother's enormous care and tireless efforts, he learned to do the basic housework like everyone else and grew up a healthy child. His mother was the centre of his life and he loved her infinitely. As the years rolled by, Jam's mother unfortunately passed away. Jam accidently met with a monk at a difficult time when he could not understand or reconcile his mother's death as a common symptom of Down syndrome and his IQ level. The monk, who had been practicing meditation in the wild for a long time, helped Jam by performing the traditional Mongolian ritual of open air burial . The ceremony involved putting a mark on the mother's body in line with the Mongolian nomadic custom, allowing her to recognize it when she is reborn or reincarnated. Jam mourned the sudden loss of his beloved mother for some time, but he had to return to normality and living his life independently. His sister was pregnant when their mother died and five years later, she went to visit Jam with her daughter, at the site his mother had been buried. Jam suddenly spotted his mother's mark on his niece's little hand and was overjoyed. This is the nature of love, the interdependence of man and nature, the eternal lineage of the mother and offspring, the meaning of human life. A human life is nothing but a dwelling in the intertwined trinity of the past, present and future or in the realm of the TRIO under the father heaven and the mother earth. There is no way one can escape in between the two. Humans come onto earth and return into earth, and that is the only truth. Even as time passes, attuned mental talk between the mother and the child, breathing and living under the sun with one heart do not fade but become more like an eternal spiritual lullaby to each other, and this is the natural law. The tendency to be rude, overly compassionate, or discriminating against people with Down syndrome, as well as rude explanations in connection with the words Mongol, Mongoloid and Mongolism, have not disappeared from our society. The world speaks many languages, but we have only one common language. This is love. Leave no one behind!Votes85

- Vangur and Aaghi are two Mongolian boys who have been horse jockeys from as early as 4 or 5 years of age. They are both accomplished riders, even though they have only been riding a few years. But they are determined to win the competition known as the Naadam, a part of the cultural history of Mongolia, and they race in the most difficult conditions possible, for long distances across dozens of miles for hours and hours. The horses are so exhausted at the end of the race that some of them collapse, and the child jockeys are also in mortal danger of getting thrown from the horse, as they ride bareback. The story unfolds before our eyes, and we watch the boys train from the time they practice the first race, until the final day of the race, when the whole country turns out to watch them compete. All throughout the days leading up to the race, the camera will record the most intimate details of the boys lives, their secret hopes, daring feats, and deathly fears. Imagine endless plains of empty grassland surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, over which dozens, if not hundreds, of horses come sweeping into view, ridden by young children in colorful native costume. This is the image of the movie which will most likely remain in the viewer's minds long after the film is over. The idea of the film is to instill in the viewer the feeling of awe and wonder that there are children who are somehow so young and so new to the world, yet who can be such old souls and embody such a great deal of potential. These children are the heroes of the story in more ways than one, and are shown in the act of accomplishing a feat that leaves most of the rest of the Western world speechless, an image that can only be shown in this film by an all-Mongolian crew, to avoid the imposition of a Western viewpoint upon their culture. The opening scenes show the preparation of the boys, Vangur and Lhagva, for the winter race. In Mongolia, a major holiday is the "Horse Celebration Day" which takes place in December, where everyone who loves racing gathers, celebrates, and honors horses, the most important part of Mongolia's heritage. The winter race is the first race that follows, which is during the Lunar Year festival. Riding in below-zero temperatures and deep snow, the children are constantly in danger of being thrown off their horses. And as we watch breathlessly, several horses arrive at the finish line without their riders. The next scenes follow the two boys as they train and ride in mock races to prepare for the most important and reputable race of the year, Naadam, which always takes place in July. The intensive preparation, in which the children devote themselves intensely, continues from early June until mid-July for one and half months. Then the Naadam Festival race is the next scene. The boys Vangur and Lhagva each ride for 3-4 races in the Naadam. But the most important race is the Race of Stallions, the largest Naadam Festival race, in which about 500 horses take part. The story unfolds as the characters each experience their own heartaches, disasters and triumphs, and there is one death during the race. The children face the reality that they may not race ever again-so much hinges upon what happens now. The boys will experience success and failure, and we will experience it alongside them, and see it from their point of view.
