First of all, let me make something clear: I have never been a fan of musicals and I have never sought to watch them. I saw la la land mainly out of curiosity because of two of my favorite actors, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Well, anything I can say about this movie is an understatement. Any way you slice it, this is a masterpiece from the talented Damien Chazelle. The direction, the choreography, the incredible songs and music, the acting and much more make you love this musical whether you want to or not. The dialogues are quite thoughtful and the story is extremely powerful and moving.
In general, I love to fall so far out on movies thinking I won't like them, when the exact opposite is true. So, whatever I say is a bit much, the only thing I want to emphasize is to look at movies with a different eye and not jump to negative conclusions.
