The greatest treat
23 October 2006
When I saw it for the first time! I was in tears. Puttanna creates one of the greatest magic through this movie. Rajkumar is the son of an estate owner, played with dignity by Prithvi Raj Kapoor. He loves bhavani. But Prirhvi Raj's wife wants Rajkumar to marry her brother's daughter. The condition worsens when the horoscope reveal that bhavani is suffering from angaaraka dosha which will lead to the death of the owner of the house. Prithvi Raj's wife along with her other son leaves her house and stays in her brother's (Balakrishna) house. Rajkumar comes to call her back. but his brother picks a fight with him. In the tussle the trigger of the gun is pulled, and the bullet lands on Rajkumar's mother's chest. What happens next is redemption. The celebration of Love.

Saakshatkara questioned so many clichés, and opposed the superstitious beliefs of the society. In a dialogue PrithviRaj says I believe in God and god cannot be a sadist to write such horrendous horoscope! More than star's will, it is human effort that makes the difference in our life. Bhavani waits for Rajkumar foe years and at last breathes her last breath on his laps. For her love was her prayer to attain Nirvana! Many films now a days, don't respect their audience's intelligence. But Puttanna was of different genre. He said if people don't understand then you have failed as a director! three Cher's to this movie!
