A beautiful metaphor and a great performance

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this movie thinking that it may be a movie about sword fighting, something like Shogun Assassin or maybe Musashi. I had high hopes and yet the movie out passed my expectations.

The title of the movie has more meanings than one, it describes the main character, but also the period of time in which the story is placed. There are 2 sword fights in the whole movie and only one death resulting from them, so the movie is not about swordsmanship. The perspective, a story told by an old woman about her father when she was 5 years old, also adds to the beauty of the film.

To summarize, Twilight Samurai has plot, great acting, very nice background and directing, history, love story and a way to make the ideas stick over time. This is not one of those movies that in one year would be unwatchable. I think it will become a classic.

I strongly recommend seeing it.
