‘Detroiters’ Canceled at Comedy Central, But the Show May Find Home Elsewhere
Detroiters,” for two years one of the brightest highlights in the Comedy Central lineup, won’t be returning to the network for third season. Series co-star/co-creator Sam Richardson announced on Twitter that the series may not be completely finished, but new episodes won’t be coming to Comedy Central in the new year.

“Sadly, @Detroiters won’t be picked up for a season 3 at Comedy Central,” wrote Richardson. “I want to thank everyone who watched and supported the show. It was a dream to make and I’m proud that those who did see it enjoyed it. Maybe it will find a home elsewhere, who knows? But truly, thank you.”

The series, which grew to become a favorite within comedy circles, premiered in 2017, starring Richardson and Tim Robinson as a pair of friends who run a Detroit-area advertising firm.

Kathie Lee Gifford is leaving the “Today” show after over a decade co-hosting the fourth hour of the NBC morning staple. Her exit was announced to staff Tuesday via a memo from NBC News President Noah Oppenheim.

“It is with mixed emotions that I share the news Kathie Lee Gifford has decided it’s time to leave ‘Today,'” the NBC News chief wrote. “As we all know, Kathie Lee’s plate has been overflowing lately with film, music and book projects, and after giving us 11 extraordinary years, she’s decided to focus her attention full-time on those other creative endeavors.”

He continued: “When we first launched this incredible hour, no one could have predicted the lightning in a bottle that is Hoda & Kathie Lee. Whether in studio or on one of their many road trips, they have delighted our audience with their distinct brand of fun, friendship and adventure.

Big Little Lies” and “Sharp Objects” alum Jean-Marc Vallée has re-teamed with HBO for yet another limited series.

The director has signed on to direct and executive produce the network’s upcoming adaptation of “Gorilla and the Bird,” HBO announced on Monday.

An adaptation of the memoir by former attorney Zack McDermott, the series is described as “an inspirational tale of a mother’s unconditional love for her bipolar son.” Bryan Sipe, who previously collaborated with Vallée on the 2015 Jake Gyllenhaal-led film “Demolition,” is executive producer and showrunner on the limited series.

The scripted half-hour from Lorne MichaelsBroadway Video and Comedy Central Productions bowed in early 2017. Season two premiered in June.
