FX’s "Fosse/Verdon" Sets Main Cast; Norbert Leo Butz, Margaret Qualley Join as Series Regulars

FX has set the main cast for the eight-episode limited series “Fosse/Verdon,” Variety has learned.

The series is based on the biography “Fosse” written by Sam Wasson and tells the story of the romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams).

Norbert Leo Butz has been cast in the series regular role of Paddy Chayefsky, while Margaret Qually will appear in the series regular role of Ann Reinking.

In addition, the following people have been cast in recurring roles: Aya Cash as Joan Simon, Nate Corddry as Neil Simon, Susan Misner as Joan McCracken, Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera, Kelli Barrett as Liza Minnelli, Evan Handler as Hal Prince, Rick Holmes as Fred Weaver, Paul Reiser as Cy Feuer, Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, Byron Jennings as George Abbott, and Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine.

House of Cards,” in the sixth and final season of Netflix’s political thriller, is off to a slower start than its penultimate run last year.

Netflix released all eight episodes of season 6 on Nov. 2, starring Robin Wright as President Claire Underwood, who navigates new political machinations and scandals — as well as demons from her past. Notably, the last season of “House of Cards” is missing previous star Kevin Spacey after the disgraced actor was dismissed from the show.

In the first seven days of its availability, the season 6 premiere episode received an average minute audience of 2.9 million U.S.

"True Blood" Creator Alan Ball Gives Details Of Musical Version In The Works

True Blood fans rejoice. You may be getting a fix of the vampire fantasy story in musical form.

Speaking at a 10th anniversary screening of the pilot episode at Vulture Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday, creator Alan Ball gave details of the rumored musical version coming from composer Nathan Barr, which Ball says he’s heard is "pretty good."

"It tells the story of vampires coming out of the closet," Ball said.

Stage and screen actor who appeared in popular sitcoms including "Never Mind the Quality," "Feel the Width" and "The Vicar of Dibley."

The actor John Bluthal, who has died aged 89, forged a long and successful acting career in Britain that began in the golden age of television in the 1960s, when he provided a foil to the comedy legends Michael Bentine, Eric Sykes, Peter Cook and, over several decades, Spike Milligan.

Bluthal soared to the top of the bill when he starred alongside Joe Lynch in the sitcom "Never Mind the Quality", "Feel the Width" (1967-71), the pair playing respectively the Jewish jacket-maker Manny Cohen and the Irish trouser-maker Patrick Kelly running a business in the East End.

"The Ranch" Gets Part 6 Premiere Date — First Eps Without Danny Masterson

"The Ranch" will begin its post-Danny Masterson era before year’s end. The second-half of Season 3 (aka Part 6) will be released on Friday, Dec. 7 Netflix has announced.

The next batch of episodes will pick up sometime after Masterson’s Rooster (presumably) ditched town. As fans will recall, the midseason finale found Rooster held at gunpoint by Mary’s ex-con boyfriend Nick, who told him to take his belongings and disappear… or else. Nick also threatened to kill (!) NBC Promotes Meredith Ahr to President, Alternative and Reality Group

Universal Television Alternative Studio head Meredith Ahr has been promoted to president of NBC Entertainment’s Alternative and Reality Group.

This marks the first major executive move at NBC since it was announced that George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy would become co-chairmen of the network, succeeding Bob Greenblatt. Telegdy was previously the president of the Alternative and Reality Group.

"Mr. Mercedes" Renewed for Season 3 at Audience Network

At&T Audience Network has renewed “Mr. Mercedes” for Season 3.

David E. Kelley will return to oversee the writer’s room with Jack Bender directing. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment will return as executive producers along with Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni of Sonar Entertainment, and Shane Elrod and Kate Regan of Audience Network. The series is produced by Sonar Entertainment.

The show is based on Stephen King’s book trilogy consisting of the titles “Mr. Mercedes,” “Finders Keepers,” and “End of Watch.”

Production on the new batch of 10 one-hour episodes is scheduled to begin in early 2019 in Charleston,

‘Death by Magic’ Trailer: Netflix Magic Show Tries Tricks That Killed Harry Houdini

Usually when someone dies doing something, it’s a good idea not to try that thing. That has not stopped popular magician Dmc (nee Drummond Money-Coutts) from trying to succeed at some of his profession’s most dangerous magic tricks.

Netflix unveiled the first look at “Death by Magic,” an upcoming series in which Dmc attempts tricks that stymied magicians like Harry Houdini. Presumably he’s Ok (unless his continued social media presence is part of a very elaborate ruse), so he’s at least managed to not fall prey to his predecessor’s fate.

These attempts are updated versions of these classically perilous tricks, including spins on being buried alive and playing Russian roulette. Dmc’s pursuit takes him across a handful of different continents, looking into the cases of individual deadly magic stories.
