Hulu to Develop Shows Based on George R.R. Martin Book Series ‘Wild Cards’

Hulu to Develop Shows Based on George R.R. Martin Book Series ‘Wild Cards’
Hulu is developing multiple shows based on the “Wild Cards” book series, which is edited by “Game of Thrones” scribe George R.R. Martin.

Variety has learned from sources that the streamer is set to open a writers room for two shows set in the “Wild Cards” universe. Universal Cable Productions will produce along with Hulu, with Andrew Miller set to write and executive produce both projects. Miller, who is currently under an overall deal at UCP, recently helmed the “Tremors” pilot at Syfy that saw the return of the original film’s star Kevin Bacon.

Set in the present, the “Wild Cards” books explore the aftermath of an alien virus, released over Manhattan in 1946 that killed 90% of those it infected. In the survivors, DNA was altered, creating grotesque physical deformities, except for a tiny percentage who develop super human powers instead.

‘Good Cop’ Canceled by Netflix After One Season
Netflix has pulled the plug on “The Good Cop” after just one season, Variety has confirmed.

“‘The Good Cop’ will not return for a second season,” Netflix said in a statement. “We’re grateful to creator Andy Breckman and his fellow producers, writers, the incredible crew and especially stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban for bringing this classic odd couple father-son story to Netflix.”

Danza starred as Big Tony, a lovable yet not exactly honorable, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, TJ (Groban), a brilliant, straight-laced NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules while solving Brooklyn’s toughest cases. The show also starred Monica Barbaro, Isiah Whitlock, Jr and Bill Kottkamp.

Breckman, the creator of “Monk,” served as showrunner and executive producer. Randy Zisk and Howard Klein also executive produced with Danza producing. The series is inspired by a

USA Network has confirmed its upcoming reboot of the 2001 reality series "Temptation Island." The 10-episode revival, produced by Banijay Studios North America, will premiere on January 15 with Mark L. Walberg, who hosted the original, returning as host.

"Temptation Island," which had been in the works at USA for the past few months, is part of the network’s aggressive expansion into unscripted series as it is preparing for the departure of WWE Smackdown next fall.

"Temptation Island" follows four dating couples at a pivotal time in their relationship, where they must mutually decide if they are ready to commit to one another for the rest of their lives — or should go their separate ways. Together, the couples travel to the tropical paradise of Maui, Hawaii, where they join 24 eligible men and women. There, they live the “single life,” in a test that is meant to help answer their most difficult questions about their relationship.

"Game Of Thrones:" HBO Confirms April Premiere For Season 8

It’s official. The anticipated eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" will launch in April. HBO released a promotional video Tuesday morning with no specific date, but official word that the series will return for its final go-round in April 2019. The retrospective video features recycled footage with the most iconic scenes from the series so far.

An April premiere is not a big surprise, since Season 1-Season 6 launched in April or late March; Season 7 premiered in July 2017. But until today, the only official time frame for the debut came from HBO programming president Casey Bloys, who said the series would return in the first half of 2019. Star Maisie Williams was more specific, saying in an interview with the UK’s Metro in January that the series was eyeing an April 2019 premiere.

HBO previously revealed that the final episode was shot over 55 nights in three locations.

Legends of Tomorrow: The Legends Go To Summer Camp

For some, childhood would not be complete without one thing: summer camp. In this week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, the team head to Camp Ogawa in Maine, 1995. The mission? To look for the kids that went missing and to track down a Striga, a magical creature that feeds on the life force of children. I loved Sara’s enthusiasm about going to camp. It’s nice to see her act like a kid again because she deserves to let loose every once in a while. Ava, on the other hand, does not know how to be a kid. Granted, she’s

The ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Was Inevitable, Even When a Sequel Wasn’t

The ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Was Inevitable, Even When a Sequel Wasn’t
Death is not final. Not on TV, anyway. Despite ending “Breaking Bad” on a note of finality for its high school science teacher turned Michelin-star meth chef Walter White (Bryan Cranston), creator Vince Gilligan is preparing to reenter the drug-ridden world of Albuquerque. The New Mexico Film Office broke the story of a “Breaking Bad” feature and it was soon confirmed by Cranston, though there’s no further details.

But yes, it’s happening. This week’s Very Good TV Podcast sets aside the already-fervent debate over whether the unseen, uncast, and quite possibly unfinished script is a great idea or a terrible one. People made the same arguments when AMC announced plans for “Better Call Saul,” which turned out just fine. Instead, let’s focus on why the film’s announcement felt inevitable, instead of shocking.

On paper, a sequel seems highly improbable, and it should. Walt is dead.

Disney in Talks With Hearst to Sell A+E Networks European Channels (Exclusive)

Disney is in talks with Hearst to sell off its interest in five European cable channels that are part of the larger A+E Networks joint venture between the companies.

Disney last week agreed to divest the channels as a condition of receiving approval for the 21st Century Fox transaction from the European Commission, the European Union’s executive arm. The regulatory review concluded that Disney would have too much market power in the lifestyle and factual programming arena by bringing Fox’s National Geographic Partners channels group together with its 50% ownership of A+E Networks.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse Finale: 5 Questions We Need Answered

With only one episode left in its run, American Horror Story: Apocalypse has a ton of ground to cover — and earth to scorch — in Wednesday’s finale (FX, 10/9c). And while we know this franchise better than to expect answers to all of our questions, we wouldn’t mind a more conclusive ending than we’ve received in seasons past.

And we’re not talking about basic questions like “How will the witches stop Michael?” or “Wait, is that the back of Angela Bassett’s head in the promo?” We’re talking about specific, (mostly) plot points that have been

The Best Uses of Kesha Songs in Movies or TV

Kesha is an educated woman if anyone was guessing, though she did drop out of college before her graduation to pursue her music career. It’s kind of hard to tell if she would have benefited from waiting or if it would have been a bad idea since her rise in the industry was pretty swift when Tik Tok came on the scene and people started listening. From that point on her career became something of an up and down rollercoaster as she would get really popular with one song and then kind of level out before hitting it big with
