Netflix Reboots True Crime & Paranormal Series "Unsolved Mysteries" With "Stranger Things" EP Shawn Levy

Netflix Reboots True Crime & Paranormal Series
Exclusive: Unsolved Mysteries is back after Netflix revived the long-running true crime and paranormal franchise.

The series, which was hosted by Robert Stack and ran for over 500 episodes between 1987 and 2010, is being refreshed by Stranger Things Ep Shawn Levy and his company 21 Laps Entertainment and Netflix.

I hear that Levy is overseeing the revamp in association with Cosgrove-Meurer Productions, the original production company run by the show’s creators John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer. The latter will show run the series with Cosgrove, Levy and Josh Barry as exec producers. Robert Wise is co-exec producer and showrunner with Dunn Meurer.

The 12-part show will use re-enactments in a documentary format to profile real-life mysteries and unsolved crimes, lost love, cases involving missing persons and unexplained paranormal events. Each episode will focus on one mystery. In the original series, actors played the victims, criminals and witnesses but family members and police were regularly interviewed.

‘The Punisher’ Season 2 Review: Marvel’s Most Violent Hero Finds More Humanity

‘The Punisher’ Season 2 Review: Marvel’s Most Violent Hero Finds More Humanity
[Editor’s note: This review contains spoilers for “The Punisher” Season 2, including the ending.]

One of the most remarkable things about “The Punisher” is the way in which it doesn’t hold in its rage. This is a show that feels fundamentally angry about the world — the criminals working within the system, the systems which oppress good people, the good people who get chewed up through no fault of their own. And it doesn’t hold back, thanks to good ol’ Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), rampaging his way through the world, dealing out his own brand of justice.

The most violent of the “Defenders” universe series, Bernthal’s take on the Punisher was first introduced in “Daredevil” Season 2, but barring a cameo or two his spin-off is easily the most disconnected from the rest of the franchise, one which can easily be enjoyed without catching up on “Iron Fist” or “Luke Cage.” Season 2, after an en media res hyper-violent opener,

The Five Best Brittany Murphy Movies of Her Career

Brittany Murphy was one of the tragic cases of when a star passes on too quickly and without any real explanation other than a mishap that resulted in an unfortunate fatality. In short, she was apparently in a weakened state with an infection of some type and was taking legal medications to combat the condition, but it would appear that her body simply couldn’t handle the strain. She was found unresponsive and passed away after being taken to the hospital. Her death shook a great many people since she seemed so healthy and vibrant most times, an actress that took

Imagine’s Documentary Arm Sets First-Look Pact With Apple (Exclusive)

Imagine’s Documentary Arm Sets First-Look Pact With Apple (Exclusive)
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries has set a first-look pact with Apple to develop non-fiction features and series.

The deal comes as Imagine is investing heavily in the premium non-fiction arena. The company in June recruited RadicalMedia veteran Justin Wilkes to head Imagine Documentaries as president.

The deal suggests that Apple sees docu films and series as an important element of the video platform the tech giant has been working on for more than 18 months. In September, Apple acquired global rights to the feature doc “The Elephant Queen,” which will screen later this month at the Sundance Film Festival.

‘Grace and Frankie’ Review: Season 5 Is Fun, Silly, and Running Out of Time

‘Grace and Frankie’ Review: Season 5 Is Fun, Silly, and Running Out of Time
If Rust Cohle walked into Grace and Frankie’s beach house, snapped open a Lone Star, and started talking about time as a flat circle, Jane Fonda’s unflappable hostess would slip a coaster under his tall boy and make herself a martini. Lily Tomlin’s relentlessly positive hippie would probably crack a joke about some old peyote trip that had her seeing in 2-D for weeks.

But they’d know what he’s talking about. These time-tested broads recognize how history repeats itself. They know many of life’s moments come back around in one way or another, and the weight of the past can be crushing. Their only twist on Matthew McConaughey’s tortured musings would be that they want the circle to continue; instead of feeling trapped in a constant loop of pain, they’d look for ways to keep things spinning. Because in Season 5, the best

Fyre Festival Documentaries: The 10 Most Outrageous Moments

Fyre Festival Documentaries: The 10 Most Outrageous Moments
It is perhaps only fitting that two documentaries about the disastrous Fyre Festival, one of the most high-profile fraudulent failures in history, would arrive during the same week — a fitting cap on a tragicomedy of errors that, as both films outline in excruciating detail, unfolded like a slow-motion plane crash in the spring of 2017. Far from the luxury accommodations and celebrity-chef-prepared meals promised by its chief producers — entrepreneur Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule — and the multiple “influencers” who were paid to promote it, concertgoers were met with flimsy tents, boxed lunches, near-total disorganization, a cancelled concert and long waits

What is the Curse of Oak Island Money Pit Mystery?

For those who are unfamiliar, Oak Island is one of the numerous islands that can be found off of the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. There are various points of interest to the place, but its main claim to fame is the Oak Island mystery, which refers to the supposed existence of a fabulous treasure buried somewhere on it. Amusingly, theorists can’t seem to come to a consensus on what the treasure is even supposed to be, which is why there are numerous theories with each one seeming more fantastical than the last. For example, the least implausible line
