Steve Carell Returning to TV with Lead Role in Apple’s Aniston/Witherspoon Drama
Nearly eight years after he left his iconic role on NBC’s The Office, actor Steve Carell is finally returning to television. In a testament to just how significantly the TV landscape has changed since Carell bid farewell to the classic sitcom, the actor has signed on for a lead role in an untitled drama series from Apple, which is expected to launch via the company sometime next year. This particular series revolves around the goings-on at a morning show and has been in the works for some time with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon starring and executive producing. …

Ratings: ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 4 Premiere Is Decidedly Un-Legendary
ABC slipped week over week into a last place ratings tie among the Big 4 broadcast networks on Monday, though it wasn’t the saddest story in primetime. That unfortunate distinction belongs to CW series “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” which premiered its fourth season as the lowest-rated and least-watched show — including the Spanish-language networks.

Much higher up the Nielsen sheets, NBC won another Monday night with “The Voice” and “Manifest.” Thanks mostly to “9-1-1” and no 10 o’clock hour of programming, Fox finished second among adults 18-49.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.7 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 8.6 million, according to preliminary numbers.

Fox was second in ratings with a 1.1/4, but fourth in viewers with 5.2 million.

ABC and CBS tied for third in ratings,

‘Judge Jerry': Jerry Springer Daytime Courtroom Show in the Works at NBCUniversal
Judge Jerry, Judge Jerry, Judge Jerry!

Jerry Springer already has his next gig lined up, following the June announcement that NBCUniversal is longer making new episodes of his long-running talk show: a syndicated daytime courtroom show from the studio that brought you the “Jerry Springer Show,” aptly titled “Judge Jerry.”

An individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap the series is still in development, though NBCUniversal is eyeing a Fall 2019 premiere, which would line up with the airing of the final season of Springer’s daytime program. Because the program is still in the works, there is no final word on where the syndication rights for the series will land.

The series would feature former attorney Springer wearing a judge’s robe and seated behind a desk. So, you know, like every other courtroom show out there, but

Tough Tactics Erupt at CBS News Over Top ’60 Minutes’ Post

Staffers at CBS News are growing anxious over which of two internal candidates is most likely to win the top post at “60 Minutes” – and it’s making some people more cranky than Andy Rooney delivering one of his famous monologues for the show.

The executive producer slot at “60 Minutes” has been open since longtime chief Jeff Fager parted ways with CBS in September over a threatening text message he sent to a CBS News reporter. Now, staffers supporting either Bill Owens, the show’s executive editor, or Susan Zirinsky, the veteran CBS News producer, are trying to stir up unrest.

You got me, This Is Us. Again!

Ever since those glimpses of the future in the Season 2 finale, I’d imagined that Toby’s flash-forward was still a long way off. Sure, he’d gone off his meds a few episodes back, but surely things couldn’t have tobogganed downhill that quickly, right?

Wrong. This week’s hour finds Toblerone lying in bed and staring at the wall while Kate gently tells him about an upcoming doctor’s appointment, just like we saw in the finale. And it turns out,

Black Lightning Recap: Whale Watching

Black Lightning Recap: Whale Watching
This week on Black Lightning, both Lynn and Jennifer got unexpected help, Jefferson and Khalil tried to adjust to their new roles, and Anissa continued to cross the boundary between right and wrong.

Doctor’s Appointment

With Green Light-related incidents happening so frequently, Agent Odell is bringing Lynn some assistance: Dr. Jace, a highly-qualified chemist who has unmatched experience in protein synthesis simulations… and who just happens to be a smirking, unapologetic psycho.

When Dr. Jace is escorted into the meeting in full prison ensemble glory (orange jumpsuit accessorized with shackles), Lynn is unnerved but regains her composure long enough

The Best Uses of Kid Rock Songs in Movies or TV

Anyone remember when Kid Rock’s career really took off and he started jumping around on stage and using his hard-hitting, gravelly voice to push his albums? It worked in a way that wasn’t unheard of and managed to get him the kind of fame that some guys only dream of, and then throughout his career he kind of hit a few high and low spots as he would come out with a hit single now and again while still keeping a lot of fans while having to watch some drop off occasionally. Honestly though he was one of the most

The Flash Recap: Death Notice — Plus, a New Wells Joins the Team (for a Price!)
This week on The Flash, Barry & Co. learned some unsettling truths about their new adversary, Cicada, against whom they once again found themselves nearly, and near-fatally, powerless.

Following an Easter egg-laden cold open in which a Young Nora browsed the future’s Flash Museum (screeners don’t allow pausing, so hit me with your finds!), Barry and Iris’ daughter confirmed for the team that, yes, she knows of Cicada — in that no one ever found out who he was or whence he came. Oh, and he is the one foe that The Flash (or any superfriends) never defeated!

The Voice Recap: Which Contestants Sang Swan Songs in the Last Battles?

One thing you have to give The Voice’s Battles this season: They’ve been full of surprises. Sometimes they were good. (For instance, I did not see Reagan Strange coming and hadn’t guessed that Tyshawn Colquitt’s bag of tricks was that overstuffed.) Sometimes they were mystifying. (Jennifer Hudson wasting a Steal on Anthony Arya and Kelly Clarkson letting go of showstopper SandyRedd?!?) And sometimes they were downright upsetting. (Even worse than no one stealing Natalie Brady after Adam Levine cut her was Kelly’s elimination of Mikele Buck, who’d given one of my favorite Blind Auditions — and in a montage,

The episode opens on a parent-teacher conference. Darlene is waiting patiently with Mark’s teacher, Ms. Reynolds (Living Biblically‘s Lindsey Kraft), while David parks his car. He then enters with Blue, who makes quite the first impression. She bows down to Ms. Reynolds and salutes her as “a member of the noblest profession,

The Five Best Jonah Hill Movies of His Career

There’s a lot of split feelings about Jonah Hill it seems, but the consensus is still that he’s a successful actor that has earned his spot and is actually one of the funnier individuals in the industry. He does seem to have moments when he either trips over his roles as part of the design or perhaps he’s not the right person for it, but it’s really hard to say such a thing without taking a step back and wondering whether that’s the ultimate truth. Hill is the kind of guy that can deliver on a role, after all he’s
