‘Daredevil’ Actress Says Netflix Was Responsible for Cancellation, Not Marvel

‘Daredevil’ Actress Says Netflix Was Responsible for Cancellation, Not Marvel
Viewers were surprised by the cancellation of “Daredevil” last month; so was the cast. Charlie Cox called it “painful,” and now his castmate Amy Rutberg has said that even “people high up at Marvel” were shocked by the move — and that Netflix was solely responsible for the decision.

“My contacts at Marvel were very surprised. Any of the rumors that it was a Marvel decision are wrong, I think it was purely a Netflix decision. That comes from personal conversations with people high up at Marvel. They were surprised,” said Rutberg in an Inverse interview.

“We had heard rumors we would start production as early as February 2019,” she said. “It’s a little unusual to be that far ahead in the planning and cancel the show, which makes me think Netflix was laboring over whether or not to cancel it. My guess was it was not an easy decision.”

Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post

Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson raised a lot of concern on Saturday with an unsettling Instagram post that reportedly triggered a welfare check by NYPD. Hours later, he made a brief appearance on SNL, showing everyone that he was alive and well, and even donned a Christmas-colored outfit to fit in with the show’s Christmas theme and the song that followed him.

Davidson introduced musical guest Miley Cyrus’ performance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic (Happy Xmas) War Is Over, which featured Lennon and Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson.

This was Davidson’s only live SNL appearance tonight (he was also featured in a pre-recorded skit about new Oscar host auditions). He was not visible during the curtain call at the end of the show when the entire cast gathers on stage.

The Five Best Kung Fu Movies of the 60s

There was a time when kung fu and other martial arts movies were truly great since they didn’t rely on CGI, green screens, or any other method that pulled away from the story and made people flock to them in droves. A lot of American films are absent from a list like this since back in the 60s the idea of martial arts films was still something that was on the horizon and had yet to fully take root. This era saw a return to the wuxia style of film making, which had been suppressed in the 30s and 40s

‘Saturday Night Live’ Produces Ad for Google in Late-Night Twist
One of the most interesting sketches from this past weekend’s broadcast of “Saturday Night Live” came not during the show, but rather one of its commercial breaks.

Viewers who stuck around during advertisements in the first half of “SNL” no doubt saw cast member Kyle Mooney creating a short video with the use of Google’s Pixel3 smartphone. “This is my video! My funky video!” he chants while cavorting about his apartment. “SNL” colleague Aidy Bryant also made an appearance in the spot, which told viewers it was “Sponsored by Google” in fine print that appeared at the bottom of the screen.

Golden Globes: Star Power and Limited Space Shut Out Worthy Contenders (Column)

For as scattered as the Golden Globes can be, there are at least a couple of constants when it comes to the nominations. The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has proved time and again that its favorite kind of actors to reward tend to come from two extreme sides of the spectrum: talented first-timers and huge household names. If a project stars someone who is truly new and/or shiny, chances are that the HFPA will pay ample attention come nomination time.

The 2019 TV noms largely stuck to this rule. The Globes honored such movie stars as Julia Roberts (“Homecoming”), Jim Carrey

Nick Offerman Was Almost a Contestant on ‘Survivor’

Nick Offerman Was Almost a Contestant on ‘Survivor’
Nick Offerman is a man of nature. Known for his work beyond his acting career as a builder of high-quality, hand-crafted furniture, one would assume that he has the skill to best a number of opponents in a battle of outdoor wits.

On the most recent episode of the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” Offerman and wife Megan Mullally delved into their deep love for the long-running CBS reality show “Survivor.” According to Offerman, he once got close to taking part in a season.

“It’s been discussed. We’ve sincerely looked at it in reality,” Offerman said.

“It was actually maybe going to happen and then he got an acting job,” Mullally added.

Of course, brute knowledge of outdoor survival skills isn’t enough to win a show like this. It requires a certain amount of psychological maneuvering which Offerman’s not 100% sure he has.

“I think it would be really fun.

‘Orange Is the New Black’ Star Yael Stone Accuses Geoffrey Rush of Sexual Misconduct, Exposing Himself
Yael Stone, an Australian actress best known for her starring role on Netflix’s comedy-drama series “Orange Is the New Black,” has accused Geoffrey Rush of sexual harassment. In an interview with The New York Times, Stone alleges Rush acted inappropriately with her while they worked together on a 2010 production of “The Diary of a Madman” in Sydney, Australia. Stone has played convict Lorna Morello since the first season of “Orange Is the New Black.”

Stone told The Times that Rush’s inappropriate behavior included sending her sexually explicit text messages, exposing his penis to her in the dressing room, joining her uninvited as she took a nap backstage, using a mirror to watch her shower, and touching her in a “very sexual manner” at an awards show. Yael said, “There was no part of my brain considering speaking to anyone in any official capacity. This was a huge star.
