"Veronica Mars": J.K. Simmons To Recur In Hulu Revival Limited Series

  • Deadline
Oscar winner J.K. Simmons has signed on for a recurring role in Hulu’s revival of "Veronica Mars," from original series creator Rob Thomas. The eight-episode limited series is scheduled to premiere in 2019.

The reboot returns star Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni and Jason Dohring to the series that ran for three seasons on Upn and the CW from 2004-2007. In the revival, spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica (Bell) is drawn into an epic mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.

Simmons will play Clyde Prickett, an

Yet, for those who saw the Season 3 installment “Nosedive” and thought that a system based on rating individuals and maintaining a perfect social score was a playful idea, a new card game is coming to retail outlets, just in time to permanently scar all the fans of deeply unsettling futurist sci-fi in your life.

For the low price of $19.99, you can own “Nosedive: A Social Game,” which draws from the plot of the Bryce Dallas Howard-led episode, set in a society where individuals are encouraged to rate each other on a five-star scale after interactions as wide-ranging as a transaction at a store or bumping into someone on the street.

The game

Tom Cruise played Jack Reacher in the two films produced by Paramount Pictures and while I thought he was great in the role and delivered two entertaining action-packed movies, we won’t be seeing anymore of them. The days of Cruise as Jack Reacher are over.

According to Childs, “We’re rebooting and starting over and we’re going to try and find the perfect guy.” For anyone familiar with the novels and the Jack Reacher character, then you know that Cruise didn’t fit the physicality for the role.

That doesn’t mean Childs didn’t like working with the actor, though. He told the BBC, “Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality,” and then noted that actor’s smaller size threw off some of the core fans:

“I really enjoyed working with Cruise.

Why Homeland Should Have Ended Way Sooner

Showtime’s Homeland was a series that was welcome as a subtler follow up to Fox’s 24 which had Jack Bauer taking on the governments of Russia and the United States with brute force in its final season. If it weren’t for Kiefer Sutherland’s aging knees, Homeland may have had to wait to find a home. Another show about the international interest in terrorists and terrorism was actually welcome, and toning things down by focusing on the less violent fight against terrorism quickly drew a following. Season 1 started off great, with the ongoing theme of whether Brody was a terrorist
