NBC Sets "Good Girls," "AP Bio" Returns, Premiere Dates for "The Enemy Within," "The Village"

NBC is rounding out its midseason programming slate, setting premiere dates for new seasons of “Good Girls” and Glenn Howerton’s “A.P. Bio.” and launch dates for freshman series “The Enemy Within” and “The Village.” The broadcaster has also locked in starts for John Legend’s first season coaching on “The Voice” and the third season of Jennifer Lopez’s “World of Dance.”

The Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman-led drama “Good Girls” will return with Season 2 on Sunday, March 3 at 10 p.m. Per the official description, this year is “all about women dealing with the consequences of their criminal behavior” and “life-changing consequences” for Beth, Ruby and Annie.

The second season of comedy “A.P. Bio” premieres Thursday, March 7 at 8:30 p.m., bringing you back into the world of disgraced-Harvard-philosophy-professor-turned-Toledo-high-school-teacher, Jack Griffin (Howerton).

"Van Helsing" Renewed for Season 4 at Syfy, Sets New Showunner

Syfy has renewed “Van Helsing” for a fourth season ahead of the Season 3 finale.

13 new episodes of the action-horror series will air in 2019. In addition, Jonathan Walker has come onboard as showrunner for the new season, taking over from Neil Labute.

The third season finale will air on Dec. 28.

“Van Helsing” airs on Syfy in the U.S. and on SuperEcran in Quebec, Canada. The series is available globally on Netflix. It stars Kelly Overton, Missy Peregrym, Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard, Trezzo Mahoro and Aleks Paunovic.

"Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" Renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 at Netflix

Netflix has ordered two more seasons of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”

The streamer has ordered another 16 episodes of the series, which will be split into two parts like Season 1 and 2. Season 3 and 4 will begin production in 2019. Season 2 is set to premiere April 5, 2019.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft. It finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

"Elementary" to End CBS Run After Season 7

"Elementary" is coming to an end on CBS, Variety has confirmed.

The procedural will wrap up following its upcoming seventh season on the broadcaster, which does not currently have a premiere date. All 13 episodes of Season 7 have been shot. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the network and producers came to the conclusion to end the show after it was renewed back in May.

ABC Studios completed an investigation this year into alleged misconduct by Frankie Shaw, creator and star of the Showtime series “SMILF,” Variety has confirmed.

The studio launched a probe into Shaw’s behavior after being made aware of a complaint by Samara Weaving, an actress who appears in the show’s first and upcoming second seasons. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Weaving complained to co-star Rosie O’Donnell and a director during production of season two about being asked to perform a sex scene nude. (Weaving and co-star Miguel Gomez were eventually told they could film the scene in their underwear.

Bad news for vampires: Van Helsing‘s hunt will continue on Syfy, which has ordered a 13-episode fourth season of the Canadian import, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Season 4 will air in 2019.

Variety has learned that the “Veep” star is developing a half-hour comedy at the premium cabler titled “Exit Plans.” In the series, when assisted suicide is legalized in 2019, a man from California opens a small business helping people transition into death peacefully while struggling to keep ahold of his crumbling personal life. Penny Marshall, who became an on-screen star as one half of Laverne & Shirley and went on to direct feature films including Big, died Monday at her home. Per the New York Daily News, Marshall passed away from complications from diabetes.

Marshall had roles in The Odd Couple and Mary Tyler Moore before landing the part of Happy Days‘ Laverne DeFazio, a character who later got her own spinoff (with Cindy Williams’ Shirley Feeny) titled Laverne & Shirley.

‘The Terror’ Adds George Takei, Rest of Main Cast for Season 2
George Takei has joined the cast of the upcoming Season 2 of “The Terror.” The famed “Star Trek” actor will join the ensemble for the sophomore installment of the acclaimed AMC anthology, which will center on the Japanese-American community during World War II.

In addition to appearing as “Yamato-san, a former fishing captain and community elder,” AMC announced that Takei will be serving as a consultant on the season. Takei has been open about his experiences living in a wartime internment camp as a young boy. A portion of “The Terror” Season 2 will take place in a similar environment.

At the time of the series’ renewal, AMC described that Season 2 will “center on an uncanny specter that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific.” Production on the 10-episode season begins next month in Vancouver.
